I don't want to permanently change my hair color, but I would like to add a temporary tint to my already dark hair. Are there any do-at-home methods you know of?

I've been doing this for many years myself - EASY. Buy the product of your choice, follow instructions on the packing. It's NOT expensive also - about 5x cheaper than the salon. Method: separate the parts of hair you want to tint and then apply color, wrap this part with foil for about 30 mins. and then rinse off thoroughly.

Adding a "temporary" tint to dark hair is next to impossible... You can only go darker from dark, and your hair can wind up looking muddy or too "goth-like", unless that's what you're going for...

I KNOW you probably don't want to hear it but! Let the pros handle the coloring of your hair. It's worth the $$ - some people color their hair themsleves and wind up messing it up so bad that they spend more money having it fixed. If you want a little something without it being too permanent, go to a hair salon that uses L'Oreal color and have them use a "semi-permanent" color on you called DiaColor. Or, get a few natural high lights put in (just a couple shades lighter than your color) that will not be noticeable when they grow out and won't need a lot of maintenance.

If you MUST color at home, L'Oreal is the best color on the market for at home coloring.

try Sun-In. Its only 5.00 at walmart. you just put it on while your hair is wet and then blowdry it. or u can use the sun. its only for people with light brown hair or blonde hair, but im sure they have other kinds. just dont use it if you have dark hair. your hair will turn red

You could also use black tea on it.

There are a bunch of home remedies for it.
Look it up, it works!
