i have been told that when you trade in a used vehicle, you can only trade it in for something new. is this correct?

Not true! I just traded my car in and put the money towards a used car. Don't be fooled!! Don't buy a car from a place that tells you you have to buy a new car, they are scamming you!!

Whoever told you that was a total idiot. Far more used cars are sold every year than new ones. And a significant number of used car buyers trade in a car.

Not at all. Many people trade cars for another used car.

no, whoever told you this, has not been on a car lot in several decades.

I do NOT buy new, due to the immediate resale loss.
but every lot that I have been on, has asked if I had a "trade".
