How lovely of you to consider she might enjoy monetary compensation for that lovely evening together! And yes, by posting this in the "etiquette" section you did the right thing. Its always good etiquette to compensate for a good time.

There are a few things wrong with this.
1) By the sound of it, it seems like she is a prostitute or you are treaating her like one.
2) She may be offended because to her, it may seem that you are paying her for sex.
3) You are married and you are trying to ease your consciones by giving her some monetary reward
4) you are trying to keep her quiet and stop her from spilling the beans.
5) You just want a one night stand but you feel bad and give her some monetary gain.
If you had an ongoing friendship with her and always shower her with gifts, it would seem normal. But this is not the case. Instead of giving her $200, why dun you get her some gifts other than money. Unless she ask for it.

So long as the gift would not be in direct exchange for the, uh, enjoyable time, then that would not be the worst of your moral lapses in life.
If you gave the "gift" as a part of the "physically enjoyable time" then most prosecutors would say that is illegal.
Grandma would call the woman a wh0r3 at that point.

What if she enjoyed herself and gave you a gift or money - how would you feel - what makes you think that she wouldn't just be using you for your body too?
Funnily enough I almost had a close encounter of a similar kind but turned it down because he was married and I was attached, but he seemed to think that I would have been interested in the Bentley and gifts when actually he had a very good body....

Certainly not! And what a kindly gentleman you are, I think if that's what is necessary for you to enjoy yourself than so be it! Some folks don't have to pay, but elderly or less-than attractive men do so I understand your plight. Reminds me of Anna Nicole's Smith's touching love story.

As long as neither of you perceive this as payment for services rendered, I think it would be a nice gesture. I think we all like to know we're appreciated. By the way, I am referring to a gift purchased, not a sum of money left.

Only if she's a prostitute. Good one. I do hope this was a joke.
