This is something I've heard a lot of anti-gay Christians here say, and honestly, it baffles me. So it is ok for a man to be attracted to a man or a woman to be attracted to a woman, but if he or she acts out who he or she really is, it's a sin?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but dosn't that sound like a really miserable life? You'd be repressed, forced into a role you don't fit into, constantly ashamed of feelings that you can't control. You may be in love with one person, but because it is a sin to be with them, you must either be alone for your entire life, or else have a false, loveless relationship with someone else.
Does the Christian god really want people who are gay to be this unhappy? If so, what is the insintive for a gay person to follow the Christian god at all?

Yes if you're gay its not your fault, just don't act on it. Thats what makes it a sin, when you act on it. Even straight people who aren't married have to do that.

The person who said I'm a Christain, but I believe being gay is not a sin??? That makes no sense, if you are a Christian you follow Christ's teacing, and VERY CLEARLY IT DOES SAY homosexuality IS A SIN AND AN ABOMINATION! If you dispute this fact, you haven't read the bible! That is like saying I'm Pro-life, but it's okay for someone else to have an abortion, but I wouldn't. You are either all the way a Christian, or you are not, there is no I believe this about the bible , but not that. There is no halfway.

Do you remember going to the store with your mom/dad as a little child? Any candy that caught your eye you fell in love with and WANTED it right now. Hopefully you were taught that you could not just take it off the shelf and eat it. You had to decide if you wanted to spend your resources on it, then pay for it and then you could eat it.
As an adult you come to realize that everything comes with some kind of cost. Whether it's scooping poop for your cats, staying up all night to care for your sick child or working overtime for that big promotion you've wanted and even being faithful to your God. All things have costs.
And for Christians the thing that is worth all of our resources is to see Jesus face to face and hear Him say "Come to me, my good and trustworthy servant. I have prepared a place for you in our Father's house. Come join the feast" Then we will have all of eternity to get to know and love all the other children of GOD. The time we spend here might be hard or painful, but no more than those inoculations that we all should have gotten as children. The shots might have hurt at the time but they prevented many painful/deadly diseases.

I know Christians who lived their entire life that way. And no, it's not easy, and yes, it can be miserable for them at times.
But they found something they enjoyed more, and believed in more. Something they were willing to die for.
Is it ok if I am alcoholic, and don't act on it? I may have genes that have a predisposition towards alcoholism. Does that make it ok for me to be alcoholic? Of course not. Would an alcoholic be miserable for much of the time as they battle their disease? Of course they are. Should they give in, simply because at times they are miserable? Of course not.
The analogy may fail with you because we may not agree that it is a sin against God, but "forcing views" works both ways. I have known homosexual Christians, who never married, who battled this all of their lives. But they had inner contentment and peace, and happiness. But why is ok for non-Christians to set themself up as judge and jury, and tell that person that their personal view of truth is what matters, and the Christian should go against their own path of self-discovery and commit the act that violates their conscience?
The incentive? The truth. The "red pill" if you will, as to what's really going on in the world. Purpose in life. A personal, day to day relationship with their creator, with a clean conscience.

It's also wrong if HETEROsexuals are attracted to someone and act out on their feelings and emotions without benefit af marriage. God makes it clear at 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 that unrighteous perons will not inherit God's kingdom.. fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural puposes or men who lie with men mor thieves nor greedy persons nor drunkards nor revileers nor extortioners will inherit God's kingdom.. yet that is what some of you WERE, but you have been washed clean. The Bible also says to ' deaden therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire and covetousness, which is idolatry. ( Colossians 3:5) so no matter WHAT your sexual proclivity, sexual desires are expected to be kept at bay. Celibacy is not the worst thing to have happen to you! After awhile, it ceases to matter, and you can concentrate on more important things in life... and there are PLENTY of things more important than giving in to your sexual urges.

I am not a Christian, and I am strongly against organized religion. Apparently, it says in the bible somewhere that "a man shall not lay with another man". You know what? The bible was made by man....you can tell because of all the contradictions. Why would God give us these "certain parts" and these certain "urges" and then tell us not to use them. Its quite sadistic if you ask me. "Look but don't touch"....its a bunch of bull. I believe that sex should be between two people who are in love, whether its two girls, two guys, or a straight couple. If God denies us our right to love who we want, he's not much of a loving God now, is he?

It is a miserable life. God created humans as sexual beings. It isn't right for any one group to say this. For any group at all. Why are homosexual people expected to be celebate? How is that right? Why do heterosexual's get to act out in 'sinful ways'. There is nothing wrong with gays acting on whatever it is they feel. God would want everyone to be happy.

Yes. That is correct. It must be miserable. Its the same as someone who is a cleptomaniac. Its VERY difficult for them to resist the urge to steal things. But so long as they do not steal, they are not a theif.
God bless,
Shane
a side note though. That is only assuming that "being gay" only constitutes having the temptation to go after people the same sex as you. "acting" on it means lusting after someone of the same sex, or even accepting the temptation in any way.

You refer to the narrowness of the Christian mind, and I agree with you on this point. By and large, the Christian God imposes moral absolutes onto his creations which cannot be seen as fair by everyone all the time. They say that God is perfect. But how can he be perfect and fair to everyone?

Lack off Actions will not get you into the kingdom of heaven .only the lord can. You can go all your life without killing another and when you face GOD he will call you a killer if your heart desires to kill.
