my fiance and i have been working on budgeting our money better. This will be our childs first xmas and we both have teenage siblings and other kids that we are planning to buy gifts for. My fiance (who makes more money) wants to get them games consoles and expensive items that most people would more than likely buy for their own kids In the past (before moving in together) i have brought my family expensive gifts or whatever they ask for but this year i said i would limit my shopping since our little one is growing so fast it seems like we are shopping every month My fiance is a very generous person who likes to do nice things for others without recognizing his limits and i dont always want to disagree with his spending for my soon to be in laws but in my opinion he always wants to over do it. so what is a reasonable amount to spend on each child for holiday

Before deciding what is a reasonable amount, ensure that you and your family are taken care of. Ultimately you should set aside a set amount of money that is going to be spent on others, then divide it up. Personal opinion, I would say $20-$40 max.

It depends on how many you have to buy for, but $100 is reasonable. The new game systems are $250-$400 - and that is before you by the first game or second controller (another $60 & $50).

This totally depends on the family. By the time all the members of some families are adults, they often start doing things like drawing names and buying for ONE person, rather than buying expensive gifts for everyone. I can't imagine spending the kind of money on nieces and nephews. That kind of over-indulgence grows ugly, greedy character problems as they get older.

I think for a kid, anything above $50 is kind of a lot. Beleive me, there are TONS of gifts out there in that price range. Plus, nobody should really CARE how much you spend on them!! Remember, it's the THOUGHT that counts!

Merry Christmas!!

when you get to this point in your life, buy for children and parents.
anyone over the age of ten should participate in adopting a needy family. it is a great experience for kids to go on Christmas eve and give a bunch of stuff to a poor family. one christmas eve we were about to be attacked by dogs before the neighbor kid ran over and called the dogs off. then he climbed in a window and unlocked the door. the family (who knew we were coming), was too embarrassed to be there. that is a christmas moment

i spend 20 dollars each on each of my sibilings. ( I have Four) then I do about the same for my bfs siblings. Twenty or around that on each of our parents. The rest of our money goes on us and our daughter.
