You don't need the emergency room at this point. Assuming you have only a fever, and no other major symptoms...the basic stuff is:
-lots of fluids inlcluding tea
-tylenol or advil to lower fever
-rest a lot/lie down
-keep track of other symptoms...if they get worse call a doctor and if your fever goes over 102 call a doctor..
-also you can take a cold shower to lower the fever
-if it goes to 104 then go to the emergency room (if your regular doctor hasn't been helpful enough to make sure it doesn't get to that point).

I agree with Melissa O. Don't panic. 101.7 isn't major if you do not have much else to go with it. Take some tylenol or Motrin. You probably have a virus. Going to the Doctor will prove to be a waste of time and Money. He or she will tell you the same thing. However, keep and eye out for other things such as headache, diarrhea, vomitting. again these all normally happen but it's when it's too much that you get dehydrated. A way of telling if your dehydrated is if your not going to the bathroom as much as your normally do. Eat a bland diet(soups, crackers and toast) drinks light liquids (water, sprite, ginger ale (the ginger in ginger ale helps calm the stomach) and sleep.
If you feel anyworse ( faint, dizzy, severe stomach cramps) call someone to take you to the doctor or hospital. Do not drive yourself. Hope you feel better

I come from a long line of allergy sufferers and the Nasonex and Flonase work really well. Oh and there is Astelin nose spray (it kinda burns though). They work by putting a kind of band aid if you will inside your nasal mucosa so that when you breathe in the allergen it does not penetrate. Things that are big offenders of allergies are posters in bedrooms, stuffed animals, pet dander and carpet. They make these overlays you get get for your pillowcases and mattresses that do not let the dust mites get into your bed and I have heard that those work wonders. Another thing that the allergists recommend is to use a COOL mist humidifier in your room at night. Not a warm one because the warm ones can be a big breeding ground for molds which will only make it worse. As long as you clean your filter out regularly it should work for a long time. These are just some suggestions that I have found that work for my family if you don't want to take medicines. Tile or laminate flooring (especially in your bedroom) is better because it does not attract the dust mites like carpet does.

take some tylenol or motrin and monitor the fever. I assume you dont have any other symptoms like a bullet hole or violent puking.
I dont go to the hospital until 102.1 or higher---102 is a good efficient fever that kills the invading virus bugs its not too hot ans not too cold.

I think that is a little bit vague...a fever could be caused by any number of things, some requiring professional medical attention and some requiring plain old rest. It depends on what your other symptoms are.

take some Tylenol or boil water with a lemon cut in half and put your face over it with a towel over your head then when it comes to a boil turn off and drink it. once you have done that go to bed and cover you self really good. you sweat like crazy, but you will wake up fine the next morning. old grandma recipe

Keep watch. If it goes over 104, go to a doc. Rest & drink lots of water and lo-salt broths, not soda or coffee!
