My cat will sit by the door and meow to go out. When I open the door for her, she stands half in half out for a while before going out. She does the same thing when she comes in only she walks toward the door, stops to look at a bug, walks some more, stops and looks at the yard, walks some more, stops to wash her ear, walks some more.....before she actually comes in. What's the deal here?

Your cat is pushing your buttons. My cat does the same thing and usually I just giver a little shove out the door and when she does it coming in I just close the door and wait a few seconds and then she will run really fast because she thinks she is going to be left outside.

My cats have a small lower bedroom window that they use as their cat door. When I am paying big $$$ to keep warm here I keep it closed. That means letting cats in and out all the time. Some of the cats are worse offenders than others. It gets aggravating and I would rather be comfortable in the house. They have their fur coats to wear outside.

Ever heard the phrase "curiosity killed the cat"? That's because someone didn't see them when they closedthe door. HA! But what's probably even more appropriate is that cats just assume you work on their schedule not the other way around. You are the servent in their eyes.

Meows have many different meanings in the cat world not just let me in or out.

yes, isn't it adorable? that is a part of being a cat, dear...and it is our place to stand there and hold the door until they decide to go through it, too. so just know your place and be content to be in your place, it is the way of the cat.

and sometimes i just reach down and move her furry little behind in or out #*###@ cat.

The cat is just letting you know your place in his world. You see as far as he is concerned you are there to serve, pet, feed and clean up after him. In return he will allow you to be around.

I think the quote "At one time cats were worshipped as gods and goddesses (mostly in ancient Egypt). They never forgot that" fits all cats to a T, in the sense that they all want to be treated like royalty. .....Must be nice. >^.^<
