Pros / cons? I am fascinated by the idea of cooking on a flexible surface. I saw a whole set for less than $20.00 , or a single baking sheet for the same. Advice / Experience? sz

I ahve heard them called "liners" does that mean they have to be placed inside a conventional pan? or do they go into the oven on they own?

they are great, i have muffin liners, you dont have to oil anything, and are easier to clean

I think it depends on what you want out of your bake ware. I do use the slipat mats on my jellyroll/cookie sheet pans and I love them because nothing sticks to them and it helps make my food a little less likely to burn compared to just sticking them on to the pans. I use these all the time.

I am do not like the baking pans. The release properties are good in that food does not stick to them but I noticed that cakes and other items do not brown in them like they do with other pans, plus you must be careful about handling the pans as they are not as solid.

Absolutely Love Them!
Everything comes out in one piece and you don't have all the little pieces stuck to the pan. They hold their shape very well. Slipmat!! Finally a mat which is easy to peel off tuille and caramal batter and florentines...to shape or even parmesean. You can use them for cold too and they come out really easy. Storage!! I have more pro's than cons-but the con I would have to say is cleaning. Soap and Water-No high temp sanitizing because you will ruin it. Sometimes, it's difficult to get all the residual butter off the slipmat.

My mom has a set of them herself and she wouldn't give them up for nothing. She won't even loan them out. I have been over there to help her cook and she won't even let me use them. She will use them her self. I know on the cake pan, it has it's own rake that comes with it. The are really worth the money. She uses hers all the time for everything. I don't really know of any con on them, I think everything about them is good.

i actually just bought a mini muffin pan for 10 bucks... yesterday i was skeptical to use it... i planned on making mini cheesecakes... they actually turned out perfectly... would i use it again. sure
cons hhmmmm well you still need to use sometihng under them when cookie cuz they are flimsy... and those ecological people who have started claming that cooking in plastic is not thought to be cancerous... (so i guess that means they don't think about the radiation from a microwave>) but we do enough bad things so why not add one to the list.

I have a bundt pan. It's very nice, especially for getting the blasted cake out. The cake also turned out quite nice, even in the crappy rental apartment electric stove.

You still have to set them on a metal cookie sheet.

I find they cook faster than metal, so back down on baking time when using silicone.
