Well, I'm weird to begin with, I smoke pot too, I give blood because, I unfortunately have a rare blood type :(... Type "O" negative. I am a UNIVERSAL DONAR (anyone can use my blood) but, unfortunately others such as myself (type O neg), can ONLY receive blood from another "Type O neg" Donor, so somewhere someone needs my blood (probably in a hurry too). I always tell the blood place that I smoke pot but, they just seemed concerned if I have Hepatitis, or aids, (I have neither), they seem to be very happy that I just showed up to donate blood, they always joke and say "Hey I found the GOOD ONE" when I walk in, and they test my blood type. if i was dying on the table, and needed blood, I wouldn't care if it came from a green martian.

All blood series centers could cope with marijuana use the comparable as alcohol: If donor artwork tension can stumble on the scent of marijuana or alcohol, the guy would not be allowed to donate at that ingredient. This has no longer something to do with intoxicants interior the blood element; the quantity modern could have not got any result on the affected person. The alcohol or THC ought to, while blended with the lack of ability of fluid quantity and crimson cellular mass, improve the threat of submit-donation reactions alongside with dizziness, fainting, nausea, and so on. on a similar time as using marijuana itself isn't a reason for deferral, the underlying scientific situation could be. Please ask him to touch the scientific director of the community blood midsection and assessment his case.

Honestly, I don't think they turn you away for that. How different is that than having a few drinks the night before? My guess is that the drinks would have more impact on the quality of the donation.

no, they perform several tests on your blood after they draw it. they would never donate drugged-up blood to a sick person.

Yes, and the best way to find out for yourself, is to ask at the blood bank. If you are worried, say your friend wants to know.
