The best thing is to give the medicine as your Vet has recommend it because it is a fast and efficient way to give the medicine and you would know if it was getting the proper doses, but if you do mix it with any dog food your dog would have to get used to it and your dog may not eat for the fact the medicine is in it.

Try getting a spoon and put peanuttbutter on and and the while the dog is eating that put the medicine in.
Good luck!

depending on how much the vet told you to give. i personally never heard of one recommending cough med to a dog. if the cough is really that bad it means there is an upper respiratory infection and needs to be treated with an injection of antibiotics. either that or there may be an obstruction in the airway.
i would highly recommend that you get a second opinion.

I hate cough medicine too!
Try mixing it with Plain Yogurt. My dog loves yogurt and it's good for them if they are not dairy sensitive! Good Luck!

So the dog has a cough? I have honestly never heard of this. However, if the vet said...
I'd mix it with some soft dog food in his bowl. If you mix it good, at least it's liquid and he can't eat around it like they do with pills...
Bon apetit!

boil beef livers and mash it to a paste consistency. mix the meds in the livers. the livers have a strong smell and can help mask the smell of the meds. i hate the way cough meds taste so i couldn't imagine how it must taste to a dog. poor baby!

NO!
People medicine should never be given to animals!
Unless it is given by the vet.

mix it with any of your dogs favorite smooth treats...soft dog fod, peanut butter, etc. When my dog had a runny nose, though, she just lapped it up. She liked the flavor.
