Why do men think that long hair is more attractive than short hair?

I know someone who is ugly, but gets hit on cuz she has long hair. What's the deal?

well when i went to beauty school , you was taught that the young have long hair after 16 you should have medium length hair, cause long hair has to do with being young as you get older it shold be shorter. It shouldn't be no shorter then a bob then a guy would think your a boy specially if its one thats very short and layered. Besides that it does depend on the shape of your face. It should also depend on good you take care of it you don't want damaged hair from coloring or keep curling it.

I think it's more likely that most men categorize women with short hair to be lesbians, dykes, butches...whatever. Stereotyping? Maybe it even seems a little boyish to the man making him uncomfortable? Maybe he questions his sexuality being with a woman with short hair? Women with long hair may seem more feminine and usually alleviates any doubt of their being gay. Now that the closets have been opened we see that lesbians come from all walks of life.
Who really knows? You're talking about men. Why is it acceptable for a man to have long hair?

I don't agree with that statement. It all depends on how the woman style their hair. Some people don't look great at all with long hair but there may be others who face doesn't suits with short hair.

For me, long hair is the essence of femininity. True, not all women look great with long hair - my mother for one has never had hair beyond her shoulders my entire life (I'm late 30's) - and not all women look unattractive with short hair, but most women look more attractive, IMHO, when they have long hair.

And like another person here said, long hair is usually worn by younger women, but I wish that wasn't the case. I've known several women -older- who had long hair and then cut it. It made them look years OLDER. I nearly cried once when I saw a secretary I knew had cut her hair. She did not do herself any favors. It may be easier to take care of, but so what. And there are few things sexier than an older woman with grey hair that is long and flowing. And you so very rarely see that anymore.

Besides looks, I love to run my fingers through it, I love to brush it and when a woman is being playful and drops her head so all the hair comes forward and covers her face and then she peeks out of it with a come hither look - welllllll, I'm here to tell ya, there ain't nothin' like it!

long hair can cover up ugly faces. also, if you have nice shiny hair, it can really add glamor to the way you look, even if you are ugly. but guys like short hair too, cuz for some people, short hair looks better. like me =)

It's mostly an aethetic thing. It looks sensual the way it lays on her shoulders or the way it sways when she moves her her head. It's simply pretty. Sometimes I like short hair on a woman, but short hair is selective - some women just don't look right with short hair.

Plus, as a guy who had long black curly hair, I liked my hair long too. Oh well all good things come to an end.
