I don't know how heterosexual women feel about being with another woman so this is addressed to the men. I am averse to even touching another man in a sexual way and I'd assume that other hetero men are as well. I would never choose to have sex with a man. I'm not sexually attracted to men. If I even hear a male voice while I'm masturbating or having sex, I immediately get out of the mood and have to wait until the talking stops. Can someone give me a reason why a guy would choose to be gay? Does that make any sense at all? Do the "gay is a choice" people actually believe that every gay man originally liked women but then said "to hell with that I'd rather have sex with my friends". lol It makes no logical sense, much like everything else Christians believe.

An even better question is, Why are christians the single biggest group opposed to homosexual rights when one of the BIGGEST things they preach is "Judge not", or "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".....
And the answer is, because religion is about opression, not expression or true freedom. it is about forcing others (through actual force, talk, or fear) to believe as you do.

I totally agreee

Homosexuality is not an abomination. I am a firm believer that Gay's and Lesbians were born that way. Why would someone chose to be so different? I am not gay, but some of my best friends are. They would give anything to be like other people and be normal. They did not chose to be this way I can assure you. What they do with each other in a sexual manner can be concieved differently. I personally don't have a problem with it. It is their choice and if that is what makes them both happy and they do not drag other people into it, then I see no problem with it. Other people cannot even fathom any justification in two men together and those are the people most commonly known as homophobic in our society.
Gay people might be frowned upon, but so are people who are racist and judge people on the conditions that they were born with.
And tell me this, If God is errorless, how come there are Gays?
I think that God placed homosexuals on earth to teach us acceptance and equality. Noone is getting the point though.

Do you honestly think that a homosexual with a choice would CHOSE to be so different? Do you think that my 13 year old nephew would have cried every night and wrote a 12 page suicide letter if he coulod have just CHANGED his sexuality?

Let me ask you this, can you CHANGE your sexuality? Right now. Try it. Can you CHOSE to be gay right now? I didn't think so. And why not? Because you were born that way.

Do you think that God put homosexuals on this earth so that you all could have someone to abuse?

NO!

hehe.... yeah sorry... strong opinions

No, it makes no sense whatsoever. This has not traditionally been a problem for Christians. You see, rather than looking at the evidence and trying to find a solution that fits, which is what science is all about, Christians already have all the answers in a dusty old book. Their task, then, is to make the evidence fit the the solution. Hence all the really absurd crap you hear them spouting, like being gay is a choice, or dinosaurs roamed the earth a couple thousand years ago.

I think they are viewed as "choosing" not to change, by those who believe that homosexuality is not a natural state, but a phase or spiritual affliction that can be resolved. So even if you did not choose to be that way, you could choose to change it.

There are some cases where homosexual attractions are not natural or permanent. Of these cases, some people have reported being spiritually changed where they no longer have such desires. The people who report this change often feel disgusted afterward that they ever felt this way, it is so foreign to their true nature.

Unfortunately, because some cases are like this, there are many who then assume that "all" cases can be "cured" and no homosexual tendencies are natural or permanent for any person.

So if such people do not actively seek to change, but continue justifying staying as they are, they can be viewed as "choosing" to remain in an unnatural state of desire whatever the cause.

Note: One Christian author who makes a very clear distinction between the cases, instead of trying to generalize them all one way, is Francis MacNutt in his book on "Healing." He mentions that in cases where homosexual desires or addictions are caused by an unwelcome spiritual condition, then removing that negative influence can change the person. So this applies to cases where people are "cured" of their tendencies. But he warns against falsely assuming this applies to all cases.

Among Christian authors and churches that minister to the gay community, the Biblical passage that "some eunuchs are made by God and some by man" is used to explain that some people are born into homosexual relations as spiritual "eunuchs" who will not bear children as part of God's design. If this is so, perhaps this means that the ones made by man, or by variable social conditions, could change or choose to change, and the ones made by God may live their whole lives without changing or needing to change.

I don't believe that it is a "choice". I believe it is a defect caused by a number of social and phycological reasons. You may just as easily say that a child molester could not have taken a differnt path. Just because you feel a desire, does not make it right. If you were attracted to sheep I doubt you would see homosexuality in the same manner. Your views are based off of your own personal experience with a touch of reasoning and not from empirical evidence to justify a logical decision.

Christians may not make sense to you, but that is because of your lack of knowledge from which they are stating. I'll give you that some fellow Christians have made some absurd statements and many have made absolutely wrong or hypocritical statements.

To clear up some of these statements that don't make sense (at least the cardinal ones of the Christian faith), I suggest you read "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. Even from a skeptical standpoint, this book is excellent for understanding the reasoning of Christians and C.S. Lewis was a former athiest, and a very intellegent well spoken one at that.

God Bless.

I think it is genetic, because as you say it is not something most people would choose to do... especially when you consider how much homosexuals are persecuted and looked down upon by religion (more people are religious than not) Why would someone choose to subject themselves to that alone?? I have watched many medical shows about intersex people etc and it does shed light on the subject... most of these people were born with both genitalia and thier parents had to choose what to remove (the penis in most cases) and many of these people later in life were so confused because they felt like a male trapped in a female body (or vice versa) in most cases they had no idea they were born as both. They didnt conciously make a choice they HAD no choice because biology is stronger than how you are brought up, if you are psycologically a man in a womans body you have no choice but to be attracted to women... its just the way it is. Personally I think thats what happens to homosexuals, they are born with the wrong body, thats all its not thier fault and they dont have a choice. There is nothing wrong with them, and we dont have a right to tell them what they feel is wrong, because we dont know how they feel.

I don't believe gay men choose to endure being gay, and I don't believe people choose to endure ADHD or any other discordant condition. I do believe that sensualism belongs to the human mind, and human thought hates God, because it believes it self, and is a god with free will and can do whatever it wants, because God doesn't really exist to the human consciousness. It takes courage to begin the true battle, and many do not have the courage to fight the good fight for themselves.

It's all in the function of the grey matter between your ears.
You may like something but another will hate it.
Smoking, drinking adrenaline rushes, are all examples of pleasure that come from receptors in the brain.
If it makes no logical sense to you you are not attempting any sort of reasoning, just making an opinion.

The guy who is making those posts has some significant issues that are apparent. I wonder if his fanatical obsession with anti-homosexuality is indicative of a repression of his own homosexual urges (see the classic 1996 study at U of Georgia that showed the strong correlation between homophobia and repression of homosexuality). Despite attempts to have the poster do simple research on the medical/psychological studies of homosexuality as well as the pervasive examples in nature, the poster continues with his rant, which speaks volumes.

Everyone has impulses and everyone makes choices based on those impulses. The engagement in homosexual activities is no different than a choice to engage in heterosexual activities. As for deviant behavior, we all have impulses to do that which God has told us not to do. It is what we do with those impulses and the choices we make which define our character and lead us or push us away from God.
