Absolutely not. Why?

Let me ask you this... if OUR child were dying (assuming you are a xian), would you pray to Krishna... just in case? How about Apollo? Ahura Mazda? Why not take a chance?

See where I'm going?

For another perspective on the same question:

Imagine that I, a doctor, am sitting in a rocking chair next to an exposed wire and watch a 6 year old kid walk up to the wire and just sit and watch as the kid sticks it in his mouth and half of his face melts. The parents run up to their child and try to make him comfortable. Then they look over to me, ask me to help, and I continue to rock in my chair. They get 200 friends to implore me to help, so I stand up from my chair. I operate on the kid and he is all better. Am I a benevolent being? or a megalomaniac?

I would probably pray, not necessarily to god or any sort of supernatural being. Prayer is just making a wish, and you're just making a wish to god. I would just make a wish to the universe, but I also wouldn't expect the universe or god or whatever to answer my prayer. It'd be a way to channel my emotions and deal with what's going on. If I had to make a "real" prayer, it'd be to the doctors who were tending to my child, as they're the ones who stand the best chance at saving him or her.

Yes pray to God. God always wants us to pray. When you pray you believe that someone is listening, so technically by wanting to pray and praying you do believe in God. Pray for your child and God will listen.

I'll pray to anyone who will listen when I'm desperate. It doesn't mean I expect anyone to be listening!
