Most western societies legislate that marriage should be between a man and a woman. What is the problem of marriage of one man to three women at the same time? If they are all consenting adults?

I don't know about the other countries in the world, but plural marriage in the United States is illegal--against the law, and any violation of such practice risks fines and imprisonment if convicted by federal or state laws.
It doesn't matter if adults consent to the unions or not. The legality does not change.

I don't see a problem ... the issue would be between the husband and the wives, as in, he has to know how to treat them fairly and equally. Polgamy has been practised by many cultures and many religions over time ... even Islam today (I'm Muslim), yet it is not tolerated in the West. However, there is increased tolerance/acceptance for adultery/ extramartial affairs. Won't it be better if the man was married to the woman instead of seeing her on the side?

Religion and societal norms.
In fact at one point I had a theory that marriage was entirely created because some clergy were sick of not being able to get wives since the succesful and attractive guys(or gals in some cases) were taking them all.

THE QUESTION IS WHY DID THEY MAKE POLYGAMY ILLEGAL IN AMERICA BUT ITS OK FOR THE MORMONS TO DO IT.ISNT THAT DOUBLE STANDARD RIGHT ALONG WITH FREEDOM OF RELIGION.WHERE IS THE FREEDOM OF PRACTICING OUR RELIGION WHEN GOD GAVE THE MEN THEIR RIGHTS TO MARRY MORE THAN 1 WIFE..LET ME SAY ITS BECASUE SOME VENGEFUL WOMEN GOT IN OFFICE AND BROUGHT THIS TO THE BOARD THATS WHY THERE ARE SO MANY ILLEGITAMENT KIDS NOWADAYS AND STD'S.IT WOULD BE NICE FOR THEM TO ALLOW POLYGAMY IN AMERICA THE ONLY DAMN PLACE ON EARTH THAT HAS MADE IT ILLEGAL (EXCEPT FOR MORMONS)WOMEN DO OUT NUMBER THE MEN AND PLUS THERE WOULDNT BE TIME FOR THE MEN TO GO AND PAY FOR WHORES AND BRING HOME STD'S TO THEIR WIFE BECAUSE THEY WILL BE TO BUSY WITH 4 WIVES NO NEED FOR WHORES.

I dunno I mean I got nothing against it as long as the man treats all wives fairly. But then again it would be pretty tricky to do that so I dunno I wouldn't promote it.
