Maybe I want a better life too. Just because I was born in the U.S. doesn't give me a better life. Do you know how many street people live here? Just because you come from another part of the country doesn't mean that your life is any better. If you're illegal, I hope your life is even worse than mine. I've been born and raised here, but homeless because of things beyond my control.. If you're an illegal alien, go back to your own country and then feel sorry for yourself.

Thing is, I participate in those strikes and marches to defend immigrant rights. I might have been born in this country and I might speak the language with a proficiency to rival that of any native speaker's, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I fail to appreciate how hard it is to get such opportunities. So, no, it doesn't upset me. My father came here illegally, and if it weren't for what he did, I wouldn't be as successfully as I am today. I wouldn't be in the top 5% of my class with a steady 3.8 average, coupled with memberships in Academic Decathlon, Speech, Math Club, and National Hispanic Honor Society, all while enrolled in accelerated and AP classes. I'm fully exploiting every opportunity I've been presented with and I maintain that more people should have that opportunity also.

I am not Mexican, but I speak the language and look like it. It was just how I was born. It is very sad what happens in Mexico and that it leads to bigotry in the U.S. There are serious stereotypes about Mexican people. People (still) assume that people who are black are inferior, they assume that Mexicans are illegals. that is just how it is right now. We have a few options, we can sulk and call all of the liberal reporters, do something about it, or leave America. That is how it is, sadly

i have several friends who are immigrants or who are the children of immigrants who wanted to get a better life. one of my favorite high school teachers is an immigrant. the thing they have in common is their respect for the laws of the country. they went through all the paperwork, and they make sure anyone in their families does the same.

i don't care..... illegal immigration is only an issue when politicians make it an issue to keep us from talking about the real issues that are affecting Americans everyday such as.... the war in Iraq, the decimation of our middle class, social security, health care benefits debacle, our environment, and the outrageous profits of conglomerates.
illegal immigrants have been coming to America since 1848..... and will continue to do so as long as businesses exploit them for their cheap labor that benefits all Americans including those that biitch at their existence in our country!!!!!!
