I just got over a mild cold and now my throat is sore, the sore throat losenges aren't helping. Can I do anything else for my throat?
And BTW I know that I don't have strep throat because my brother is like prone to getting strep so if I had it he would, and I've never had it before.

I have had great luck with Chai Tea, the cinnamon and pepper burns a little but I find it helps.

Registered Nurse here; Okay lets make sure you don't have strep throat. Get a flashlight look in the mirror check your tonsils for white to yellowish pus pockets. If you have pus pockets you need to see a doctor and get some antibiotics, and weather you do are not. Salt water gargle helps lots, take about 4 ounces of warm water and put 2 tablespoons of plain table salt in the water, stir it up and gargle for 30 sec to 60 seconds, do this about 3 times, spitting out the salt water each time. Do this every couple of hours and just before you go to bed. Salt is a great healer, warm water soothes. Thanks for the opportunity to address your question.

Use a pain reliever such as tylenol, motrin, or aleve. They will get into your blood stream and work better than the menthol lozenges. all the combination cold remedies use either tylenol or motrin as the ingredient to help sore throats. And plus your in pain they are pain relievers regardless of where the pain is located.
