Because sometimes its true. Sometimes some parents are very good parents, but the kids are just too much, and adhd for some is real. I have a child with Aspergers syndrome which has some of the same types of things ADHD has, and he is completely different from my other kids. It has nothing to do with how I parent. And I do not medicate him or anything. He is who he is. The only reason we had him diagnosed is for school purposes. He is well behaved though. Just other issues that go along with Apsergers. As for the media and tv, and stuff, that is probably the parents fault if they are letting them watch that kind of stuff. Anything the kids are allowed to watch they will try and copy, or learn from. Some parents are just lazy and dont want to take the time to enforce the rules, but then when their child does something they just cant seem to understand why.

That's because it is not always the parent's fault. Believe me as a fourteen year old, no matter what my parents do, I'm still exposed to things I'm not suppose to. Does it mean that my parents are bad? Of course not. It really does take a village to raise a child because many things interplay into the psychology of a child's mind and adhd can be a valid excuse. Usually when a child does something wrong its due to lack of communication, which is to blame on both sides. This is just my opinion though.

It depends on how the child is. For example, if a 5 year old is going around telling people he wants to kill them, it could be from watching violent television shows and the parents should take responsibility for this. However, if a 17 year old is saying the same things, the parents shouldn't take responsilbility for this. The 17 year old is old enough to know the consequences of what they say and do; whereas a 5 year old doesn't completely comprehend right and wrong at that young age.

Because we live in a general culture of blaming others for all of our problems. What really ticks me off is when people whine about preventable medical conditions, like Type 2 diabetes and obesity. How many more studies do we need to find out what causes obesity???? Ask any 4 year old!

But yeah, ADHD makes me mad too--I think it's usually complete BS--parents who never set limits or enforce rules with their kids, feed them nothing but sugar, and then are shocked when the child doesn't want to sit down and do math.

that also depends on the "kids" age. If they are old enough to know better the kids are just as much to blame as the parents. Older kids need to take responsibility for their actions too!

I don't know, I saw this the other day in the store where a mother let her 2 year old destroy toys and then just put them back. And she watched her do it too and never said a word. So not only did she allow it, but didn't take responsibility for it by paying for it.

Parents are becoming very lax in disciplining their children, probably because spanking has gotten such a bad rap. No one wants to admit they are a failure. Most people can tell who the blame really falls on. The parents.

Because they don't want to face the fact that they are screwing up. These people genuinly believe it's the fault of the mediea etc, because it's easier to think this then to take a good look at yourself and realize you're a failure as a parent.
