I just wanted to say that I am a huge german shepherd fan. I have two girls right now one is 2 and the other is 5. My last german shepherd lived until she was 9 years old. I know that some german shepherds aren't big fans of the tennis ball, mine weren't but now they are. My 2 year old absolutely loves the frisbee, it's a great way to get the dogs excersice. The dogs also love the beach so if you live in california like I do then that's great also. I hope that was helpful...it probably wasn't, but good luck! Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

Having raised German Shepherds, if your baby is showing signs of hip displacer by the age of 9 months, then friend you have real problems cause by the time she is fully grown she will be totally cripple. Talk to you vet, perhaps surgery is in order or perhaps you should consider the worse. I known its a hard decision, but you don't want her to suffer.

a bad hip? at 9 mo? does she have pano? or is it hip dysplasia? an accident?

I have a 4 yr old german shepherd. our previous shep died of hip dysplasia at 13 yrs .. it was sad to see. the games that a dog can play without running:

roll a ball to her and then she'll catch it in her mouth, she'll drop it and then you go get it and roll it back to her. this can go on for hours.

here's something I like to do, it's kind of like torture but actually fun for the dog. take one of her favorite toys and tie it up inside another one of her toys (like a ball tied up in a stuffed dog). she'll spend hours chewing and twisting and untying it. It's like a puzzle.

you can try a tug of war too, with a piece of rope twisted at both ends.

you can play "hide the squeaky ball" but hide it
nearby her so that she doesn't have to run there.

have fun hope I helped

what i like to do with my dogs are just walk them in the city parks or in your grove. they just love hunting around, roaming and everything. i would suggest NOT to do much if she has a bad hip, let it heal. germans are a rather interesting breed. remeber always PRAISE them for doing good, where ever you are, even if you are not playing a game. if they are goofing around, "oops sorry, lost your turn" or whatever. i would also suggest going to the vet and checking it out. let it heal for a ltitle while. take some slow walks, notthing to intense.

OMG, i had a wonderful german shepherd who is now in doggie heaven after giving me and my son almost 13 years of love, devotion and happiness. she was soooo smart! we used to play hide and go seek with her. i would throw one of her toys and when she ran to get it, we would hide. we played this game hundreds of times and the only time i ever fooled her was the first time i got up on the washing machine!!

someone hold her, you go hid, then they let her go and she finds you. It will sharpen her skills, therefore making her smarter. they're so smart! so think of games to really make her think hard about it, like hiding treats around places

so young, what a shame she has a bad hip already
