You can get a great second hand car for E3000 (£5000). Save the rest of the money!
Skoda octavias are actually very worth looking at, my dad got one and I was sceptical but it actually is a great drive. Suzuki makes some great models too. And Renault lagoonas are worthwhile too.

you might want to try and get hold of an american car, always a lot more roomy and made for 'bigger' drivers.

apparently the american mini is supposed to be pretty good for tall people as it has been enlarged from the european version to give more headroom.

juist because its a mini dosent mean its not going to fit you in.
