Lyndon Johnson and McNamara never intended to allow the military to win the war in Viet Nam, lied to the American people about it, and allowed 50,000 US soldiers to die. As soon as Nixon mined the coast of N. Viet Nam and started to bomb the Hanoi region, then the north wanted to talk peace.
The Tet Offense was a military disaster for the Viet Cong everywhere except in press/media in the US. The war in Viet Nam would have been over in 6-12 months had the military been allowed to fight the war. Johnson and McNamara are both cowards and traitors.
