I love my kitten but he is insane! We just bought our christmas tree and it's real. He knocked all the ornaments off the bottom of it and he jumps to try to get to the top of it! He plays with everything but his toys. He knows he isn't supposed to because when I fuss at him, it looks at me. When I get up to go after him, he takes off running and as soon as I sit back down he goes right back. In the mornings, when I get up and go in the kitchen, he weaves back and forth between my feet and I trip on him all the time. He won't walk anywhere but between my feet and I fall over him. Even when he has canned food in his bowl, and I go in the kitchen he meows and won't stop until I put food in his bowl or pretend that I do by just stirring what's in there already.

Also, I have been hearing that people feed their cats a completely raw diet. What exactly is that?

welcome to the joys(?) of kitten/cat parenthood. wait till you come home after a long day at the office and find that all of the toilet tissue and/or the paper towels have been spun off of their rolls (hint # 1- place the rolls so they pull from the bottom, not the top). cats also like to experiment, especially with sir issac newton's laws of gravity, they seem to want to understand why a small glass curio on a shelf falls at the same rate as a picture of youre' mom on the desk to the floor (hint # 2 - if you don't want it broken, put it up until kitty understands, which may never happen). the kitty really doen't care about your'e sense of balance
while he performs the figure eight manuver between your'e legs, it is just his way to get you more alert to face the morning
without the use of coffee (hint # 3- get some big, loud slippers and scuff to the kitchen, sliding your'e feet, at least you won't fall).
wean him off of canned food before he gets too old, the next thing you will know he will have an account at the local fish market and poultry farm (hint # 4- the less the kitty knows about online shopping, the better). as far as the christmas tree is concerned, join the" people that are owned by their cats anonomus" local affiliate, where this subject has been debated
every since the first christmas tree and the first kitten letting you
live in their house (hint #5- develop the patence of a saint, you will need it).

Have you ever had a cat before? Because all of that seems like typical cat behavior to me...seriously, cats are nuts! He just wants to play and get attention from you because he loves you. My four-year-old kitty does the same things--he's just high strung and playful.

Not sure what the "raw" diet is--I wouldn't give a cat much else other than dry food. Canned food is bad for cats' teeth.

This is very normal kitten behavior. I have a kitten who will attack you if you yell or call some one loudly. another who runs up your leg and sits on your shoulder and yet another who just likes to jump on your leg for a ride. By letting him run or playing with him you will wear him out so you can get some peace, and I know this may be what a lot of people have said, but getting another kitten will relieve some of the stress. He will really bond to the other kitten and play with it instead of wreaking havoc through the house. Hope this helps:).

LOL! Welcome to the wonderful world of cats! He's just being a kitten! This will continue till he's about a year old. Then they start to settle down. Have him fixed to help mellow him out. As for the tree, my cats finally outgrew Christmas tree climbing this year (my youngest is a year old). I also think the flashing lights I put on this year scare them a little. A friend of mine has a remote control car he drives after his cats when they go near the tree. It scares them away. Don't know about the diet, mine eat Iams. Good luck!

Hi Deighton She was a dull brown colour and had her kittens in my neighbours shed. My neighbour was allergic to cats so I brought them home. I intended to get them all neutered and injected then give them their freedom. Of course, they stayed. After lots of grooming mother cat turned out to be a magnificent tortoiseshell and her kittens were ginger and tabby. As the months progressed it was obvious mother cat had been someone's pet. She lifted the kittens onto the table when I served garlic meals. She responded to biscuits shaken in the box. I contacted Cats Protection and the local RSPCA. They both gave the same advice. There had been a spate of cats disappearing, the cats kidnapper would take it personal if I advertised the cat to try to find the previous owner. Lots of happy years with three cats and the rescue dog followed. What beautiful memories. Best wishes.

The cat is normal , I've had lots and he's gonna want to climb that tree, and the decorations are a bonus for him, there hanging and make noise and move when he touches, they love that. Try hanging something in your door way with yarn or string he will love it..And the weaving through your feet is him just wanting your personal attention. I fed my cats Iams as well as can and table scraps, sardines, chicken livers they love it and its good variety. Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

he sounds like a holy terror, but kittens play all day, enjoy it
because when he is around 8 months old they calm down
alot, and then they dont do much more than sleep and eat,
unless you instigate the play time.

completely raw diets are probably the best, i believe
your cat will the healthier for it, but you need to discuss
this with the vet.

i don't know how to break this to you. you have a cat, cats are nuts, they are born nuts, they live their lives nuts and they die nuts. enjoy it. they are great. go to the library get some books on raising or living with cats and you will see all is as going to be. they might also give you some pointers on how to distract them from the worse of it. but, hey just enjoy.
