the world will never end, humanity may die off due to its destruction of its own environment, or due to a catastrophic event such as an asteroids impact, but the entire world will never die. People act as if the Earth is the center of the universe, but it isn't
And if one day scientists discover that an asteroid is about to destroy the Earth, there will be people everywhere saying "See! I TOLD YOU THE RAPTURE IS COMING!"...which is simply ridiculous because since revelations was written, people have pointing to it and saying that the end of the world is coming. it is a giant version of the boy who cried wolf. If I get up every single morning and predict that I am going to die that day, eventually I will be right. however this does not make me a prophet, it simply makes me a person who wastes his time on earth dreaming about death and destruction

I think that the end of the world will come right along with WWIII..if it doesn't completely destroy it, at the very least, it will make it all but inhabitable..the people left after the initial blast will die from fall-out, hunger or lack of clean fresh water.
If that doesn't happen then we could possibly end civilization through using up all of the earths resources and starve or fry to death from a lack of ozone to protect us..(unless someone comes out with spf1000000 sunblock)..
The third option..we could be here long enough for the sun to burn out (a few million years I believe)...it would then explode like all dying stars..and if we lived to survive it we would be left completely in the dark..literally...and freeze to death pretty quick
Of course we could be hit with a giant comet that could send the earth flying off its axis and we could hurtle off into the great beyond that is space
Personally though, I don't think that bribery, corruption and children that don't obey are a sign that the end of the world is near..unless you're talking in christian terms..and mean something along the lines of Rapture...

yes it can come at any time either thru global warming in 30-100 years or more likely thru nuclear conflict. It is now clear that even the USA can not maintain an army big enough for a major war so I do believe nuclear war is imminent. Morality is at an all time low and history proves without a doubt that religiosity is detrimental to society in all ways and facilitates the degredation of all morals and stunts the growth of spirituality.
Oy Vey what a mess!

" Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape" (I Thessalonians 5:1-3)
"Be on your guard, that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell upon the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying in order that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21: 34-36)

God's word says that the gospel will be preached to all the nations of the world, and then the end will come. That time is approaching as almost all the earth has heard of the gospel of the salvation of Jesus Christ's sacrifice and resurrection.

That the world will end one day is a sure thing - all things come to an end and we are no different. Whether it will come about by nuclear devastation, an asteroid colliding with the earth or the sun going nova, no one knows. To live as if it's going to end, however, is self-defeating and will only make you crazy.
Life is sweet - take big bites.

The world will never end, but the life on earth might. When Jesus returns he'll make a new heavens and a new earth. But it doesn't just get snuffed out forever.

The "End of the World" does not mean the end of this physical existence. The world is currently in a dual process of decay AND compostion. The 'end' refers to the process of decay which your quote describes. The decay will become greater and greater until this current world order completely collapses and gives way to a new world in which humanity chooses to turn to God for its laws and guidance and not to man. Those striving to please God are working for the process of composition. It is for us to decide which process we want to participate in - the process of decay or the process of composition.
