No simple answer to this one. It depends on so many things - what you'll be eating with it, personal preference, time of year etc. The received wisdom is that you should drink red wine with red meats, chesses etc, whiloe white whines go better with poultry, fish and delicately flavoured food. However, not being a wine snob myself, I tend to drink what I like when I want it. I have had some really good white wines with red meat and find that they can work well. Roses are also good but, in my experience, work best in the summer when you drink them icy cold as an aperitif.

A simple answer is both a biased answer is red but a good answer would be to try a red that has some f the qualities of a white such as a BEAUJOLAIS. A good starter wine that's red with some qualities of white is the Beaujolais Nouveau by Georges Duboeuf for the following reasons:
1. it is served chilled like a white and isn't expensive like a white.
2. its meant to be drank soon not aged like a white and its not super dry.
3. it is fun and can go with fried chicken a sub sandwich or a pizza.
4. It can like most reds go with meat like steak or pasta and like white go with fish or chicken.
don't' let the name intimidate you its pronounced boo or BO-gel- aise. like mayonnaise. Its a good all around wine.
I love reds but I can appreciate a nice white after all champagne is white!
good luck try many enjoy them all.

White definitely. Usually people try to match wine to the foods they're having. Chicken, fish and light dishes with white wine and red wines with robust meals like beef.

Red wine is good with some things, white wine is good with other things. Either one is good for just sitting around sipping. Red with heavy meats and strong cheese, white for light meats and light cheese. But you needn't pay that much attention to these general rules, drink what you like and eat whatever you want with it.

Red in the winter to warm me up, white in the summer, chilled and a long drink with even soda water or ice in the glass. The current flavours of Rose, and some red/white mixes are also good, if you drink them very cold.

A good Spanish or French Red for a nice cosy night in during winter, but a nice sharp Italian White for enjoying on a night out.
