Sounds weird but let me explain. I've never smoked cigarettes in my life but my mom and a lot of family does so I'm exposed to second-hand smoke pretty often. Lately I've been really stresed out and every time I feel stressed and can't handle things, I take a deep breath and have a desire to wanna take a puff of a cigarette, like that will relieve stress. I don't know what that is, like if the second hand smoke has caused a slight addiction if possible or what, just wondering if this is possible and if anyone's had that.

I know what you mean, but I think it is mostly psychological. Youve seen friends and family smoke to relieve stress, and its what you know. I have the same thing about alcohol. Im not a drinker, but I have seen many alcoholics. Sometimes I wonder "what it would be like" to be an alcoholic, and live off vodka
Try healthier ways of stress management like exercise, or writing.

It may relieve stress the first or second time. But after a while you will be so addicted, all you will think about is smoking. You dont want to cause more stress because you cant get off them!
In the end you will wish you never did because you will smoke more and more each day, and want them more often!
It causes cancer and is very, very, unhealthy!
When you think about it when your stressed, think about a year ahead!
Good Luck!

It is possible that the second hand smoke cause an addiction in you, but not probable. Direct inhalation of smoke also contins more of the nicotine and stuff that's addictive. This is also why second-hand smoke victims get cancer more often, b/c smokers are getting other chemicals that tell their body to up the immune system.

I think more likely, you find smoke comforting because you associate it with family and people you love. When you are stressed, you may just want to let go and enjoy yourself, and this feeling may be associated with the smell of smoke in your subconcisious.

I think it's possible but, more likely, many people around you use cigarettes as a stress-reliever and accept them. For that reason, it seems like a good outlet for you, too. Please don't give in to this addiction. You'll be VERY, VERY sorry if you do.
