1st off you need to take your child and fit them in each carseat then you have to make sure the carseat is compatiable with your car. I did my research because I wanted my 5y.o daughter to be in a 5pt harness as long as possible. She is 42 inches and 45 pounds. I could not afford the Regent since I have two children that need to be put into a booster and it takes up alot of space. There are several carseat made for up to 80 pounds with the 5pt harness. Radian80 and the Regent are the most affordable. But now Cosco/Safety 1st came out with a new line called the Apex 65 which hold a harnessed child up to 65 pounds. I have purchased two of them since my 5 y.o is 45 pounds and my son is 3 and 42 pounds. The height of this carseat goes up to 57 inches. But I would not reccomend this carseat for anyone with a car that DOESNOT have a head support. After the 65 pounds the Apex serves as a booster with the lapbelt. The Apex does have side impact protection which was nother feature I was really looking for.

If you want a booster seat for your 3y.o which personally i wouldnt do but if the child meets the height and weight recquirements Britax Parkway is also good and from friends its been used for up to 10 y.o

So when researching for the best seat for YOUR child and YOUR car keep all this in mind

Childs height
Childs weight
Do you want to keep yor child in a 5pt harness?
Do you want to go with a booster?
How much are you willing to spend?
Does your car have a Latch system or teether anchors?
Do you plan to pass this carseat on or do you plan to squeez as much life out of it as you possibly can?
What year and model is your car?
Can your child stay restrained by just the shoulder/lap belt?
Do you want something that is easy to get in and out of?
Are you looking for side imapct protection?

this carseat can hold up to 80lbs and has excellent reviews. They also have seats for up to 65lbs with grerat reviews. They are about the only ones I have found that have a limit of more than 40lbs.

Their boosters fit up to older/taller children also, great reviews.

Britax Marathon or Regent. Marathon has more side-impact protection but Regent you can use longer (80 lb vs. 65). Both have 5-point harnesses, which you should keep your child in as long as possible. I would probably go with the Regent.

As i just researched them a ton, I found the BRITAX is one of the best! Not only for safety but it holds a heavier child than most. It is extremely comfortable and easy to use. We just bought one, and alhtough they are VERY expensive your childs safety is of the utmost importance!

You need to contact your local SAFE KIDS or a CERTIFIED CAR SEAT TECHNICIAN.
No one on yahoo answers is going to be able to ask you that.
