Im looking to buy my dad a bottle of scotch. He enjoys Balvenie Port Wood 1991. Knowing this, would anyone know of another bottle he might enjoy?

auchentaushen 3 wood , ITS a lowland instead of a highland but its finished in sherry, bourbon, and oloroso casks, similar to port wood. mccallans is aged in all sherry unless the label says fine oak then its a bourbon/sherry cask mix. Bowmore is an islay so its smokier and saltier but they also have a cask finish collection; dusk , dawn and other names they call their scotches with finishes. the dawn is the port wood finish and also my favorite from Bowmore. if you need more help on any alcohol product knowledge email me.

Yes you have to decide what you like and maybe go for an older bottling than you would normally purchase. I disagree that Highland malts are always the best as some other answer states. I prefer the Islays myself as they tend to be peated. Favourites Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Caol Ila. If you have similar tastes, then try Ardbeg Supernova (Score 97%) or Ardbeg Uigeadail (score 97.5%) both award winners in the Jim Murray Whisky Bible. Both available at the website below for well under £100.
