omg I think I have the same problem. It only shows up behind one ear, and it shows up after I put earrings in.
Any type of earrings I am sensitive too and if I try to wear them it hurts like heck and I get that bump!
When it shows up, I massage it, and I think it is helping it go away quicker.
I want to go to a doctor to find out about it, but I have to wait until I have health insurace which should be soon.
Good luck

I agree with Alice, 'cos I had a cyst there a few years ago.It had to be cut out. The Perotid Gland is there behind the ear and it can be a rather delicate operation. Mine was done by a fantastic Surgeon Professor Harris, in London's Eastman Dental Hospital. I hear he has retired now but his skills were passed down to others there surely.
Anyway it has to be checked out by a good doctor. Good luck!

some people get oil bumps (no head) and they hurt like heck. I surmise this is what you're talking about since you say it's happened to you several times before, so I assume they have gone away.
I know how dumb this sounds but when I was a kid I was told if I got my ears pierced the oil bumps would go away. When I was 20 I had my ears pierced and I never had another oil bump.
Why not go to your doctor and have that lanced? He/she will put ice on your ear to numb it and then break the oil bump if it is in fact an oil bump. Otherwise he will send you for an x-ray to see what else it could be.

in case you press on the lump and experience discomfort, you have mastoiditis, it relatively is an infection interior the bone of the middle ear hollow area. My daughter had it whilst she replaced into 3 yrs previous. An Otologist (ear wellbeing practitioner) taken care of her and prescribed penicilin, which cured the priority. for extra suggestion see the reference below.

Sounds like a cyst - they are common behind the ears. You will need to go see your doctor.

It could be a cyst, or a tumor, or a lot of different things. You better get it looked at by a doctor. It is NOT a pimple.

I used to get these sometimes when I was younger. My dad said I might not be rinsing the shampoo/conditioner well enough in the shower.
If it looks infected (red, hurts, swelling) get it checked out.

SOUNDS LIKE AN ABSCESS (ESPECIALLY IF ITS REALLY PAINFUL). SEE A DOCTOR AND IF ANTIBIOTICS DON'T SORT IT, THEN ITS MORE LIKELY TO BE AN ABSCESS (BECAUSE ANTIBIOTICS CAN'T CROSS THE FIBROUS WALL ENCLOSING THE ABSCESS), IN WHICH CASE IT'LL NEED INCISION AND DRAINAGE UNDER LOCAL ANAESTHETIC.
GOOD NEWS IS ITS EASY TO FIX :D
