Why is Mr. Blair saying this NOW? Why not say it soon after his warming party at Downing Street with music combo Oasis etc. soon after Labour came into power - could it be he has now realised his time is up, and so why not rip-up in Tory party stylee with one last blast before he sails into American heaven...if he indeed tried it on in 1997, he wouldn't have been in power for long. Clever man, hmm?
What about people who were born in Britain - but over the years have disliked - no...hated, even - their homeland for reasons other than the usual cliched ones?

As many others said, it is too little too late!
I am amazed at this government's immigration policies; it lets all the illiterate and destitute from all over the world to come to UK and stay here even if their asylum-seeker application has failed, but on the other hand, there are even more stringent laws in place to restrict the number of highly skilled immigrants.
Whom do you expect to "integrate"?- the people who could never integrate in their own countries or those who speak better English than most of the natives and are boosting the economy of this country?
This "multi-culturalism" bug is a creation of the British government's policies, who first sheltered all trouble-mongers in other countries and now when they are brewing up hatred here, they put the blame on ALL immigrants!!
BTW, anyone who interpreted this answer as a tirade against refugees, I assure you IT WAS NOT.

I agree with Tony but it's really a case of too little to late. Those 4 nice lads from Leeds didn't really agree with our country and look what they did on 7th July 2005.
- Liberals like to complicate things to the extent where people cant be bothered to argue. But its that simple, if you dont like it, leave.
- Why do aslyum seekers pass through so many countries countries that are politically stable before reaching the u.k.
- This idea of absolute tolerance is also questionable. And we should repsect everyones religion and beliefs without question? Some people do stuff in their own home, smoke, live like slobs, whatever. But its their home and i should repsect that. But i would not respect it in my home. See what im getting at?
I could go on. But i think every country should keep their identity. Lets just say i respect religions and beliefs where they belong. Everything in its place!

AT LONG LAST TONY BLAIR HAS FINALLY WOKE UP.
This country will not be the same again with so may different immigrants here already. The Brits have to stick to the law and order of this country so why can't everyone else who are living here as citizens including the Asylum Seekers.

I think anyone who makes the choice to immigrate to another country should integrate. If all they want to do is create a little (fill in the dysfunctional country of your choice here), why didn't they stay home and help improve their government? I didn't hear Blair's comments, but I feel 100% that if immigrants don't like where they CHOOSE to go, they should pack up and leave. What's so bad about that?

Tony made perfect sense!!! Many immigrants have no idea how to behave in society. They come here with their begging bowls, expect freebies & deal drugs. Much of Britain's crime rate is down to them. The only problem is that it's too little, too late, & when they get chucked out, they'll whinge about human rights, & end up staying.

Way to go Tony.
If life at Home is so rich and wonderful STAY AT HOME.
If you come to the U.K its our way or the highway back to where ever it was you come.
I left to go to Canada so i have experience of the problems that integration can bring. They do things diferently and its frustrating sometimes but I chose to be here so I do as i see. I certainly don't import British ideaolgy here. Its not the Canadian way.

The 'big walk out' did nothing at all to hurt business. Now if WE all walked out, THAT would hurt business.
Dislocation would occur whenever those given the responsibility of a job don't show up, however, the jobs were filled before the illegals got here. I have no problem with those who came legally within our quotas, I appreciate the trouble they took. Those are the kind of immigrants we think of when we call ourselves a 'nation of immigrants'. We definitely are not thinking of those who broke laws to get here.
I'm not from the UK though.

Tony Blair never makes sense!
Most people who come to live here respect this country it is the minority that cause the problems and people like Tony Blair stir it all up and have caused all this hatred.
Mr Blair lives in his own fantasy world with GWB. They are welcome to it but can they let the rest of us get on with sorting the mess they are creating on the way?!!!!

Look Britain is a Christian country, overseen by the defender of the faith, THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND, we have laws decreed in Parliament, and we have a common language ENGLISH.
If you cannot live by those 3 ENGLISH customs, then we do not want you!
I do NOT care what religion you are, but you MUST respect the religion of the host country.
I do NOT care what laws you followed, but you MUST follow the laws of THIS land.
I do NOT care what language you speak, but you MUST be able to communicate the the English population!
