And before any flames begin...this is a not a rhetorical question. I'm more interested in the "How" than in the "can".

By realizing, no matter how painful, the all things and people are the Creation of God. This is not a compromise, but a fact of Christian teaching. "God creates all things and keeps them in existence" was what I was taught as a young man. If that is the teaching, then gays are the creation of God, as is clearly shown throughout Nature. This is not a choice but a fact. To be anti-gay is to be anti-God's Creation. Face that, and the rest is simple.

The same way Jesus did. Jesus did not show up to those in sin denouncing them at every turn, hurling abuses. The only people he got justifiably angry with was the *other religious leaders who DID abuse* those in sin.

Is homosexuality a sin? Yes. But so is alcoholism. Because one is born that way, or not born that way doesn't make a lick of difference to me. If I am born with a genetic predisposition to alcoholism, then it doesn't make it "ok" for me to be an alocoholic.

But the concept that someone who is homosexual should be treated as sub-human because of this problem is rediculous in the extreme, and contrary to the teachings of the Bible.

What did Paul say on the subject of homosexuality? I believe at times, ones may focus on one verse, and forget the context. Is it a sin? Absolutely. He stated that men who lie with men will not inherit God's kingdom. However, what did he say *right after* that? He said: "But that is what some of you were" !! They had repented, and stopped this course of action. But I am convinced because of this scripture that there are, at this moment, ones who have died and gone to heaven who WERE homosexuals at one time.

As a minister, I've had ones refuse my offer to teach them what the Bible teaches with the comment: "No, I'm gay, I don't think so pal.". I just blink and say: "Yeah, ok, well, that's not what I'm here to talk about."

I don't believe showing love and respect for the gay community compromises Christian values. Even if you don't agree with a certain way of life, you should still treat all people with kindness and respect. Jesus treated all people well, regardless of who they were or what they had done.

A christian can show love to the gay community by knowing that God loves them the same way as they love everyone else.

You do not need to give up your belief that being gay is a sin .. if you believe that. This is because we all sin and still God loves us!

This is how you can show them love and respect, letting them know that you know God still loves them and that He still died for them.

It would be better to live your life love and be happy. Christians have been the reason for so many wars, death and destruction.
Try being spiritual and have an understanding that not all have true love and forgiveness in the heart like God would want.
Christians have so much to learn and you seem to be above all that.

The best way to show love and respect is with individual homosexuals that you know and associate with. Treat them with the same love as with any of your neighbors.

Jesus never told us to love "communities" of any kind. We are to reflect the love of Jesus to PEOPLE.

Well, they have no problem showing love to people who wear outfits made out of two different materials. So I don't see why they should hate gays. Because gays are mentioned together with all that other ridiculous stuff that nobody cares about anymore.

well i personally don't see how it could be so difficult. religious leaders are constantly going into prisons and speaking with horrible criminals about love and forgiveness. why they can't do the same for gay people, who have never even killed a soul, is a bit of a mystery.

As them being human beings, we can show respect

but their sexual behavior, no, we shouldnt show respect.God has no respect for homosexuality; He said it's abominable.

Anything labeled an abomination by God, means it's a sin worst than the rest (the tenb commandments).

Don't worry about what other people are doing--worry about what YOU are doing. I know better than to expect true compassion from a Christian, but for the love of God, if nothing else, leave them alone. If you refuse to do good, at least don't do bad.
