i've always heard the 5 small meals a day will help, and the green tea claims to boost metabolism. it's something you're born with, but i'm in anatomy and physiology right now, so let me see if this makes sense
i've always heard that don't fast, because then when you do eat you'll gain it all back because when you fast you're metabolism becames slower and when you eat again, you still have a slow metabolism and you'll gain all the weight back. hence the reason for hearing the "eat 5 small meals a day" kinda thing, with making sure to eat breakfast with these 5 meals, since that's the meal a lot of people skip.

Eating small regular healthy meals (5-6 per day) with lean protein, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and low-fat carbs, exercising on a regular basis with both aerobic and strength training to build muscle, and drinking water will all increase your metabolism. The first two people who answered are wrong.

Eating five or six smaller meals throughout the day keeps your metabolism working. Exercising and getting your body on a schedule (go to bed and get up at the same time every day, exercise around the same time every few days...) are also major factors.

Exercise, don't skip meals, and drink green tea or take green tea dietary supplements. Grapefruit is good for your metabolism too.
