I have been involved in cases where tests for herpes have been negative for three or four months....then a succession of positive tests indicate it was present all along .... it had to be.... because the patient had had no further contact with any sexual partner after the one that caused the first tests to be taken.

You will know . . . your genitals will be in a lot of pain. The pain will be severe enough to send you to a doctor.

no...the virus has an incubation period of a couple weeks.
