Have him take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen or some tylenol tonight, and put warm washcloths on the site for 10 minutes at a time, off for 20 minutes at a time, all evening. In the morning, go to an urgent care clinic. It is not going to get well without intervention, and he's going to end up missing a lot of work, possibly end up in the hospital, if he doesn't get it treated promptly. Tell him you'll go with him because you and your family need him to be well and he can't wait any longer. Good luck!

I'll bet money it's an infected sweat gland. My best friend's husband had what sounds like the exact same thing (including not being able to put his arm all the way down). He was in horrible pain for the longest time and finally went to the doctor. They lanced it and packed it with gauze (as the girl below me said) and gave him some anti-biotics. It eventually got better, but it had gotten so bad that it did take a while to heal. Your husband needs to go to the doctor.

Sounds like an abcess, they are common for people to get in the folds of their skin. An abcess can be very painful and won't go away on its own. You should take your Husband to the emergency room and have it checked out, it could be dangerous if that infection gets into his blood. If it is an abcess, they will lance it and pack it with gauze and put him on a strong antibiotic to help clear the infection. Try to get him to go today, waiting till tomarrow will only make it more painful.

All I can really think of it maybe being is a cyst, boil or a bad insect bite. Either way he really should go to the doctor to be sure. Get some Benadryl to help reduce the swelling and some aspirins for any pain.
