My g/f's birthday is coming up and I was thinking about taking her out to eat so I thought McDonalds would be pretty cool because I know she has said before that she liked the McChicken sandwich. I told my buddy this and he said that would be a bad idea. If you are a girl, would you be happy and okay with it? I only make $16.91 an hour so its not like I am rich.

if she knows you only make $16.91 an hour, than she knows you're a not rich person. i'm a girl, and i think that at least you remembered her birthday, which shows you care, and you remembered something she said from a previous conversation (her liking the chicken sandwich) which shows you listen to her. you're showing her 2 things about you that are important in a relationship. if you had enough money, you could at least maybe get her a flower or 2 (don't know how much money you have) to again show her you care, you just don't have the money for something fancy. it's really the thought that counts :)

First of all, I'm a vegan so I don't encourage anyone eating meat in general. But regardless, what you're doing is wrong. She's your girlfriend and you should love her no matter what. Don't try to control her eating habits, that's just wrong. Plus, eating a burger and fries one day isn't going to make her gain weight. By the way, it's funny how you're like, "Women!!" but what the heck, man? I don't think you'd be too happy with getting a burger and fries for your birthday either. She just wants to go out somewhere nice for her birthday, not to McDonald's. You're wrong in every aspect and I don't think your relationship is going to last. You're too controlling.

If you don't save some money take her out to AT LEAST Apple bee's.

If you take her out to McDonalds, she's gonna dump you. You have to be one hell of a guy to make that work. If you want a silly date I suggest Chuckie Cheese where you too can play in the ball pit, eat pizza, and play the games.

Oh and $16.91 is 4 more than MY bf makes and he didn't take me to McDonald's on my birthday! You make a pretty decent amount of money. Sure you aren't rich but you aren't making minimum wage either.

How old are you and your girlfriend? If she is under the age of 13, then I am sure that she will be cool with it. However, if you and your girl are over the age of 18, then you need to take her somewhere a little bit nicer than Micky D's. Try mixing in some Red Lobster or Bahama Breeze. Those places are nice and should be within your budget.

Kids go to McDonalds. Adults do real restaurants.

You might wanna go somewhere a little bit more expensive, even if its not much. Even though your girlfriend likes McDonalds doesnt mean she'll want that for her birthday. Its a nice thought but I think she would want something a bit more expensive.

Depending on your age, if your in high school - cool. If you are out of high school, and make $16.91 an hour, definitely NOT. You would come off as being "cheap".

As long as you allow your girlfriend free range of the menu I think this is totally acceptable considering your income. If she wants large fries, a shake, or dessert splurge for this special occasion.
