My boyfriend wont hold my hand???

Question

ok well he holds my hand when the people that like him and his "guy friends" aren't around. but he wont hold my hand in the cafeteria! and he wont put his arm around me in their either. And when we are going to different classes and i say i love u he will onll say loud enough for me to here him mummble it when his friends are around. Why does he do this and should i care?

We have been goin out for 1 and a half years and pretty much every one knows

My new girlfriend doesn't hold my hand either. It is natural that I do so when we are out walking in the city and are simply in a crowd and stuff. But she just won't initiate it. I think your boyfriend is too shy to do it in public or feels awkward doing it. Sometimes it takes a while to adjust to your partner's pace especially when you two are walking together. Some girls I dated were not so good at it that I constantly let my arm loose. That way they had more room to move around. Also you can try grabbing his arm leaning on him. (this would be easier than holding hands..) Anyway, you should keep initiating it without worrying too much, and do something that makes him feel more confortable. Eventually he'll come to you. I don't think this has anything to do with him not liking to do it.

He will grow out of it. A lot of boys when they are first in love with someone, are kind of shy and dont want to show thier love in public. Dont be too hasty to dump him. Shy guys are usually the best. Try not to be too obsessive of him. If he only shows his affection in private, quit worrying. it sounds like you are just a tool to him, a way to gain popularity. in my opinion, no one need a dope like him who isnt willing to marry you or even say i love you.i think you should have a talk, ask some questions and state what u feel like. if he gets mad, dump him. if he changes, keep him.
