Going to church makes you a good person the same way going to a garage makes you a car, and swimming in a lake makes you a fish!

Nope. Just a person who has never gone to church.

Some people would say "yes" and some people would say "no." If everyone went to hell because they didn't go to church, we'd all be doomed. I say if you believe in God or lead a good life, you will reach heaven. You're not a bad person.

Therefore I assume you have never been baptized and do not participate in the Lord's Supper or Confession or witnessing to other's baptisms.

All these things may condemn you so you may want to seek mercy from God and think about why you don't attend and what is best for serving the Lord. Of course, this will mean nothing if you do not consider yourself a CHristian.

Going to church doesn't make you a good person any more that going to a garage makes you a car.
The testimony of God is that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) The prophet isaiah testifies "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God. and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that he does not hear" (Isaiah 59:2,3) As far as our efforts to make amends with God on the basis of our good deeds, he testifies "For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment" (Isaiah 64:6)
So all of us are in the same dilemma, in desperate need of God's help but unable to help ourselves.
"But now God's way of putting men right with Himself has been revealed, and it has nothing to do with law. The Law of Moses and the Prophets gave witness to it: God puts us right through faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ" (Romans 3:21,22, T.E.V.)

"But the righteouness that is by faith says:...if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe IN YOUR HEART that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved....for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:6,9,13)

God is able to make you good, but it comes only as a gift, received by faith, so no one can boast. Once the gift is received, you find within you a new nature that says: "I delight to do Your Will O my God, Your law is within my heart" (Psalm 40:8)... I testify to you that these things are so.

Not unless you are a bad person too.
There are bad people who go to church, and good people who don't.

No. Only GOD is good. All mankind is less than perfect. So GOD gave us his Son so we can be brought to perfection or GOD's example of good.
