If Islam conquered at the point of a sword, why not fight it with the barrel of a gun?

Islam spread through out Europe within 100 years of Muhammad's death by use of Sword. It was contained by use of guns during the years of Crusades from 1090s till 1260s A.D. It is fully justified even to-day the war against terrorism through out the world.

Assuming that Islam conquered by sword in what way was the Christian propagation of their faith any different? Should we ,therefore,descend to the age of the Crusades?(In fact, even Crusades were nominally religious wars. They were primarily intended to open up the land routes to Asia blocked by the newly emerging Muslim rulers. Had not Wasco-da-Gama found out a sea route to India perhaps these wars would still have continued changing the basic nature of world conflicts)
And the so-called Muslim conquests were basically a Central Asian move. Chengiz Khan was not a Muslim but a Buddhist.The Mogols were essentially nomads with an animistic religion and their conversion to Islam only led an edge to their conquests providing a religious side to the expeditions. As regards India at the time it was divided against itself with small principalities all over. There was no central power. The small kingdoms riven with internecine quarrels fell an easy prey to the onslaught of determined people like Babur.Their westward expance was due more or less on the same account.The Crusades which were an armed answer to Muslim expansion was not basically a religious response but a mundane one of the need to open up the land route to India through the Middle East. The moment a sea route was found to India the crusades lost their religious edge and dies out.We have to understand the economic explosion of the world and study the nature of the conflicts. At present the so-called Muslim conquerers present a pathetic figures at the mercy of the so-called Christian conqerers.And the Christian conquerers who are in dire need of an enemy after the fall of the Soviet Union have developed this doctrine of all out war against terrorism(alias Islam).This will only lead to a stalemate in world affairs.

There is 14 million Christians in Arabia, if Islam is spread by the sword then why aint those 14 million Christians Muslims?

I love when people bring up the crusades to show how Christianity was spread by violence. Yeah that was over a thousand years after Jesus came, the first three hundred years of Christianity they were all pacifists. Islam's founder started the whole spreading it by violence thing himself.
