Because of Parkinson's it minimises the ideas for gifts. No tiny things he cant hold, no computers games or mp3 players to walk with because he needs all the attention on himself. I have given him enough books and dvds.

I have parkinsons and I will tell you things that would help me for what is worth.
1) Pens with large grip - are easier for me to hold on to and write with.

2) Clothes without a lot of buttons - buttons are a pain in the ass.

3) I don't know the exact name of them but they can be found in medical supply stores - I call them "reachers" - I use them to pick things up off the floor

4) A shower chair

5) Donations in his name to Parkinsons organizations - those that do research as well as those that provide services to those that currently have pd.

OK well my mom has a disease that at times can be similar to Parkinsons so for her B-day I got her a stuffed animal(for hospital trips) and maybe get him a bird!, my mom is in love with our birds(2 little budgies) and they will sit on her hand even if shes shaky or wobbly they help her and even if she is feeling horrible she still feels important because she takes care of them instead of everyone always taking care of her
Or donate to a parkinsons research foundation

Ask him what he would like.

Maybe a donation on his behalf to a Parkinson's research organization would be appropriate and meaningful.
