i recently got hit by a ball right in my left eye and now have damaged my vision. what is sad is that i was an innocent bystander and did nothing wrong. i am seeing floaters and went to an ophthamologist only to find out that it is permanent and cannot be removed. i also discovered that there is possibility that it could get worse and worse, resulting in detaching the retina and complete loss of vision. i am so depressed because of this, and i am having a hard time coping with it...

i'm just wondering if any of you guys have ever been through this kind of situation where you did some trauma to your eyes and now it affects your eyesight. please share any stories. i just want to know that i'm not the only person right now feeling this pain.

thanks.

Sorry to hear that. Some things "just happen" and have nothing to do with karma, luck whatever. i would really just take care of them and maybe do some research. Be thankful for what you have and think it could have been worse and lose your legs or voice etc, you know what i mean.

I was playing hotbox and was hit in the eye by a hot pitch when I was only nine years old...by a kid who later had his arm clocked at 89 mph--now my left eye is slightly smaller than the right and my vision is much worse than my vision in my right eye--my glasses are "lopsided" prescriptions. And I will be lucky if I DONT get a detached retina before, well, lets just say "I'll be lucky if I dont get one any day now" per the eye doctor.

Yes, but not the same kind of activity as you. Coming home from the Drive-In Movie one Saturday night, I looked to my right at the lights at a gas station/food mart. They were blindingly bright. I winced and heard some kind of static sound come from my eyes. The next day I noticed I could no longer read the fine print in the newspaper as was my routine.

Now, I have extreme astigmatism. I wish I had stayed home that night.

Sight is connected to the brain in many difficult to describe ways. Poor eyesight can affect one's self-confidence in all things they do. And loss of this ability is terrifying to contemplate.

Use the Internet to monitor medical developments. So much is happening every week. Keep in touch with your doctor, if the world knows you are feeling depressed, the doctor should also be told about it.
