You should. But make sure you guys do something before/after the movies... Movies are not the best way to get to know anyone because no one can talk to the other one.
Maybe tell him you need to browse ideas for christmas gifts and ask him to take you to the mall. A walk around different stores will allow you both to get to know eachother's tastes/likes and dislikes.

yes,,,you should go and ask him politely if he would like to go to movies...i would suggest that u ask him when u guys are having usual conversation..and dont make it a separate special event to ask him out..
just when u chit chatting...and say-- hey wanna go to movies tomorrow?
