I stopped mine by giving him yogurt on his food. The poop eating is like recycling digestive enzymes. Yogurt has the active cultures that help with digestion so he doesn't need those recycled ones. I also found that giving a little raw meat once in a while helped with that, too.

I got my 'poop eating' dog when he was 2 years old and had been doing it for a long time according to his former owner. I also changed his food from Hill's Science Diet to a better quality high protein, high fat food and that helped a lot, too.

well, from what I've red and heard, dogs eat their own poop for the nurrishment out of it. What you could do is try to pick up the poop right after the dog goes, or take the dog inside, then go pick up the poop - just don't let him near it if he goes, just take him straight inside.

Generally dogs only eat their own faeces when their diet is lacking in something e.g a vitamin or mineral and the dog is trying to replace the nutrients that it is lacking, it depends on what you are feeding your dog, ensure it is a complete dog food like Royal Canine Canine (my dogs are fed on it and have had no problems), Iams, there are a wide variety of good quality dog foods available in the market today, also its easy to stop your dog from eating its own excrement by cleaning it up straight away or once your dogs gone to the toilet, reward the dog for leaving the excrement and coming to you so you can clean it up, plus the dog also learns that not eating it is a good thing. - hope this helps

I'm not sure it's possible! the only thing I can think of is to scold him/her when eating it. be sure the pet is eating enough food and not eating poop becuase it has nothing else to eat. try feeding it more to see if that helps.

Meat tenderizer. If it's a dog. Put it on their food. It doesn't hurt the dog. Just makes the poop taste bad to them - if that makes any sense.

Sprinkle a little meat tenderizer on his/her food. It will not hurt your dog at all but after digestion will make his feces taste awful to him. You can also purchase a powder called Forbid (basically the same thing) from your veterinarian.

I have seen products for sale that claim to help stop your dog from eating it. I don't know if they work or not. It might be worth calling your vet and seeing if he knows of this product (I can't remember its name.) and if its worth buying.

You can buy pills at your local Petco or PetsMart. They worked for my puppy but took maybe to days before she stopped.
