My best friend recently moved overseas with her boyfriend. All was going well until her boyfriend's brother came over for a visit. He has been living with them for 3 months, won't get a job, contributes nothing to the household, and doesn't pay for a thing. They are stuggling financially because of it and both of them are fed up with the guy free loading off them. The family won't have him back because they know what he is like. What advice do you have for this situation?

They gotta chuck him out, whilst there feeding him he wont go anywhere,(would you) if ya getting everything for nothing an no-one is stopping ya! , who's the bigger fool !!!! Tell um to tell him straight,by the sounds of him he probably already knows tho !!!!

They should sit down with him and say that he has to move out in one week. They should refuse any excuses or requests for extensions -- they absolutely must be firm. These type of people get comfortable when they don't have to provide anything for themselves. They lose all motivation to do so and will not change until forced. They also have an inflated sense of entitlement.
If he does not leave, they should call the police. I hate to say it, but it may have to be done. Even if it hurts the relationship with the brother for the short term, he will most likely come around and apologize for his inconsiderate actions in the near future.

Free-loaders must be unloaded, plain and simple.
Tell him to leave and if he doesn't do it within ten days: Call the law if necessary. Or else, pack his stuff up when he's out, and send it to a shelter and later, give him the address to which it was sent. Also, if he has keys to the house or flat, then change the locks.

Tell the guy he has until X date to leave. On X day, give him an excuse to be out of the house (movie tickets or something). While he is out, move his stuff outside. Change locks. Turn out the lights and go to bed. Ignore racket outside.

Kick him to the curve, get him out of the house then move all his stuff outside and let him in until he gets a job and commits to it.

But, if this is actually your best friend, stay out of it. You can really do some damage, and have them against you instead.

They have to kick him out. He will never leave as long as they let him stay there. Why should he? He has it made there. Tell them to get rid of him.
