I'll explain.. I remix songs, and I'm trying to get a program that will play an MPEG video file but lets you remove/silence the audio so I can sync my songs to the video. That would be tight.

just use the free "movie maker" software that comes with windows...it's in the start programs folder

This is a free version of Avid DV. It should be able to do what you want it to, but it might have a bit of a learning curve. If you are going to do a lot of this you might consider purchasing Sony Vegas. From my understanding Vegas ties in very well with Sony Acid and it's related products. If you use this it would be a familiar interface. Alternatively on the Mac side of things Final Cut Express is a good program. Neither one is cheap but both are considered very good for the money.

the best place to get free software (all kinds) daily is filehippo.com.
if you go on it now you can download the lastest adobe software.
