You just have to suffer through it. If you are the one inviting people over for dinner with poor table etiquette, then you are running your own risk. Besides if they are guests, you want to make them feel at ease and you should just let it slide this time. If it is your kid, throw a butter knife at his chair and tell him to knock it off.

I was out to lunch with my son (2 years-old) and there was a guy at the next table with some friends that was chewing with his mouth open and talking with food in his mouth. My son had just taken a bite of food and started babbling. I said loud enough for the oaf at the next table to hear "Ryan, don't talk with food in your mouth, it is rude". The next time I glanced at the next table the guy was chewing with his mouth shut.

Urgh, my father does that. he's the in elementary words human being I enable slide although although each and every so often I say that is disgusting and to stop. He has diabetes although and smokes; his tooth are falling out and he's not getting dentures for yet another few weeks. So he can not eat steak or chicken of turkey or some thing that couldn't gentle so I understand he desires to be able to chew including his mouth open. I only gained't sit down for the period of from him at a eating position and that i do not eat dinner on the table. yet your pal? this is only rude. next time he does that, you could tell him that you comprehend he enjoys his foodstuff yet you do not opt for to ensure it, and also you truly do not opt for to take heed to it. you could then smile then like that is a comic book tale. yet when he keeps then you truly can go away or say some thing slightly more advantageous rude? Like, "truly, do you opt for me to tutor you my foodstuff?" I hate seeing human beings chew their foodstuff. i am going to bluntly tell them to close their mouth because this is only disgusting, and in the journey that they gained't then when I've only stuck my tongue out with foodstuff chewed up on it or maybe as they were completely disgusted i replaced into like, "Yeah, this is gross, isn't it?" It worked.

I don't think there is -- telling someone to please chew their food quietly -- i can see your food in your mouth while your eating. Any way you put it it'll make the person feel awkward. If they are grown, good luck at getting them to change the habit. If they are from another country, watch out, smacking food while eating may be a compliment to the cook.

I dont think theres really a polite way. The only thing you can say to that really is..."d you mind chewing with your mouth closed please" That would be hard to say I know, but I dont think theres any other way!

I'd say something ONLY if it were a child, close family member or a dear friend. I wouldn't have the courage to tell a stranger or someone I wasn't super close with.

There is not really a way of doing that. If I was their friend, then no I would not tell them or be rude. If they were just some random person then I might say something.

I wish I knew! A person I work with munches on chips all day, and she's so loud it's like she's TRYING to be obnoxious. The poor girl just doesn't realize it. I've tried "Those must be some good chips, huh Kate?" and "Sounds like you've got your favorite chips again!" And she just smiles and says yes and offers me one. Ugh.

I normally just start the sentence with, 'Excuse me, do you mind...?' and people I know find that polite enough.
