7.62 × 39 mm is the only bullet for the AK-47.

There are many other variants on the AK, and they use a variety of bullets.

I hesitate to answer, because it sounds like you know next to nothing about firearms. I'm going to answer, but be careful, and don't pick up a firearm without some training first.
The Avtomat Kalashnikov is an assault rifle, not a machine gun. It chambers the 7.62x39 cartridge. The typical bullet is 7.62 mm, or about .311 inch in diameter in the AK 47, though some other rifles chambering that round have tighter bores, and a .308 inch bullet is better in those. Typical bullet weight is about 125 grains or 8.1 grams. Non-military bullets of this caliber are available in a wide variety of weights, but autoloaders do best with loads close to the round for which they're designed.

An AK-47 is not a machine gun, although there are machine gun varients of it like the RPD and RPK-47. The AK-47 is an assault rifle that fires a 7.62x39mm bullet.

I'm pretty sure some random guy on Yahoo Answers asking questions such as that is the very last guy I'll tell the truth to. So, try some 22LR rounds.
