If all physical evidence of all the religious teachings(books, etc.) disappeared, and all the memory of any religious doctrines were erased from every single person's memory in the same day, how long would it take before a new religion was created?

Not knocking anyone's religion or beliefs. No disrespect meant.

The resulting void would cause more religions to spring forth almost instantaneously. People need to belong to something that grants security. best wishes. We would be thrown back into the dark ages and have to relive that long, bloody era again.

Religion was created to fill the gaps of knowledge we do not currently have, as a culture.
Since gaps still exist, it unfortunately wouldn't take very long. People want firm answers, and sometimes "We simply don't know yet" isn't good enough for folks, although it is the right answer.
So some wise guys makes up firm answers, and everyone feels better and gives the wise guys some money. Sucks.

it might take days. humans have developed so much in science that they would not feel the need of god for days. they'll find a reason for everything thats happening and it will be difficult for them to except that somebody with more power then them exists (talking of living thing). we have a huge ego and that will take days to bent and some miracles would have to happen to make the base for the belief to evolve.
or maybe that concept will never evolve. we were way too ignorant when the face of god formed in our minds. the only reason why it formed was because of natural disasters. but now that we know reasons for nearly all the disasters it will be hard blaming the anger of some 'thing'.
we also use the name of god for being dependent on something. also we use it for telling all our things that we feel guilty to tell others. so the concept might evolve in some years.

I think you would get a sort of paganism started again..
From small sympathetic magick, like act out what you want done to seeing it come true.
Even deities of the Sun and Moon ..
Being they do effect us on a physical level.
With time of course it would grow into a more written and well worded belief.
As nature will always be around us.
Will always be part of us. And always effect us.

The seeds for such a religion are already present. I think Murphy's Law demonstrates that we still personalize ill fortune. It'd just be a matter of years, less than a decade, to formalize some kind of acknowledgement of a higher power.

The next day of course. The weak minded NEED to have something to support their weak little minds with. They are unable to think for themselves, so they would quickly start a new religion so they can continue their excuse not to use reasoning and logic.

Three days. (Simply because that is the common time period for a trip to the Underworld and back in nearly all religions throughout the world. And just for grins, does anyone know why?)

probably not very long, I mean, even cave men had some sort of religion. And with our intelligence and imagination, we'll start thinking about our purpose on earth and come up with something.

1 nanosecond. God is not a person, therefore, His memory is not erased. In addition, if He is living in us, through us, then we are not people either, which means our memory is not erased.

Not long because the Holy Spirit dwells within me.
"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you." John 14:26
