She used to sleep from 6:30pm - 6:30am. This week no matter what time I put her to bed (anywhere from 6-7pm), she woke up at 5am screaming and crying! What is going on? Is this temporary?

try bumping bedtime back a bit. the older she gets, the less sleep she will require at night. my son is 2 and he goes to bed at 9 and wakes up around 7. it's normal for them to not sleep as much anymore, she's a big girl now!

My 15 month started doing the same thing recently--then I figured out it was the time change!!!

He goes to bed at 7 and sleeps until 6 or so...but started getting up at 5:15........and then wanting to go to bed earlier........10-12 hours straight is not unusual for a child our age to sleep--we are VERY lucky--mine takes a nap during the day too.....

Anyway--back to your question-----this week he started sleeping in until 6ish again....so it could just be a phase----make sure the room is not too cold or too warm and all of that and if all else fails, try keeping him up a bit later--as I type it's 6:30 here and I'm trying to keep mine awake so he won't wake up at 5 in the morning! LOL!

I noticed the same thing when my son was about the same age, around this time of year. Three things helped:

1-Feed baby a little more before bed because she might be getting hungry at 5am.

2-Make sure her diaper is holding it all in. Cool temperature plus wet diaper would even make me cry :-)

2-Make sure her room is warm enough. The lowest temps of the day are usually between 3am and 5am. Maybe your baby is getting too cold. We notice it every year when the weather gets cold. We set the heater to 70 degrees but still our baby's room is a little drafty so we dress him a little more warmly and he makes it through the night.

Hope that helps!

She could be having bad dreams because my son will go to sleep at bout 10:30 and wake up at 3:30 or 5:30 doing the same thing. When he does this I just get him and put him in bed with me and he goes right back to sleep.

it is normal, thru out his life he will get into several different sleeping patterns. Why he is screaming is hard to say. Usually dreaming doesn't occur in kids until 3 or 4. But it could be dreams.. He may need more sleep during the day like a nap. He is growing up and his habit of sleeping is changing.

It might be that she doesnt need 12 hours of sleep everynight. try putting her to bed about 7:30 - 8pm and see how that goes. My son is 18 months old and sleeps from 8pm - 6am. Occasional he wakes up in the middle of the night crying but if I leave him alone he falls back to sleep until 6.

No one can say if it is temporary or not. This is normal so all u can do is deal with it and pray it goes back to 6:30 am... Good luck from a mom...

Yes,they change so much.Their eating and sleeping habits. My 2 1/2 year old wakes up every day at 4 am.She comes to my room and asks to sleep with us.The funny thing is,my husband said to her jokingly"Next time you bring your pillow with you"Sure enough, she brings her pillow with her each time she comes to our bed.

Unless there have been changes in her diet or extra stress in the home, put her to bed an hour later. Are you sure she's not hurting or sick?

Try moving her bedtime up to 730. Does she take a nap? My son is two and I still make sure he gets his naps in.
