I thought we were going to have global warming, it feels more like global freezing too me.

I was getting used to enjoying my Christmas's wearing shorts but not this year.

I life on the Gulf of Mexico and I bet Wally World doesn't even sell thermal nuclear underwear here.

I think I liked the idea of global warming more than global freezing, am I the only one?

Should I write my congressman and complain?

Didn't you hear? Cold weather is caused by Global Warming. Global Warming even causes hot weather. The world is coming to an end!

Wow.. you people have really, really, REALLY messed up perceptions of Global Warming.

Global Warming is almost universaly accepted by the scientific community. The very hold outs are inveriably people with agendas. The United States is the only industrealized country with more than 1% of the population that buys into Creationism. This is another expression of that ignorance. Any person with any level of understanding of weather or science in general will concider Global Warming as a possibility, if nothing else.

And I say this without any level of intended disrespect or anger: Anyone who cannot even comprehend or recognise the possibility is just plain stupid.

Global Warming is a destabilization of weather patterns and systems. The break down OF those patterns. This is an example of what Chaoticians call 'The Butterfly Effect'. Small variations in complex systems can have massive and unforseeable results. This year, we had the first Hurricane cross the Atlantic Ocean IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE ever in recorded history. Could Global Warming lead to a cold snap or two? You bet your pants.

Global Warming and Global Freezing are not the polar oppisties you seem to think they are.

Here's the Theory:

The temperate climate of the Northern Hemisphere, and especialy Europe, are maintained by an the currents of warm and cold waters that run through the worlds oceans, like rivers. A current that brings warm water into the far North Atlanic from the Equator cools. We all know that cooler things sink, so it plummets and flows back under the way it came from. The Warm Equitorial waters radiate heat into the atmosphere, are caught by the Jet Stream and warm Europe.

As the Glaciers of Greenland and the North Pole melt and their fresh waters are dumped into the ocean, lots of water is added and it dilutes the salt content. We theorize that the vast change in the water content is having the effect of slowing these currents. This is supported by the facts that A: Greenland has lost about 70% of it's glacier mass in the past 10 years and B: Since that time, the current of the Mid-Atlantic has progressively slowed further and further.

Ths is only one example of a system that effects us all and can be altered by a Butterfly flaping it's wings. (The Butterfly Effect) And this is how Global Warming leads to an Ice Age. Yes, I saw that episode of Family Guy too, it does sound silly. It's a funny show but I wouldn't look to it for a whole lot of scientific insight.

Now, you can laugh at me and tell me I'm stupid and wrong.

Hell, I hope your right.

Just remember, if the world kills us off, we deserved it.

You got it right. Last summer there was a report that due to global warming, summers in northern Europe will be 3 degrees cooler within 10 years. And another report was about a group (Greenpeace?) going to the Arctic to study how smaller amounts of snow and ice due to global warming was leading to the extinction of the polar bears. They had planned to go in 2005 but THERE WAS AN UNUSUALLY LARGE AMOUNT OF ICE AND SNOW THAT YEAR.

Global warming is the increase in the Earth's average temperature over a period of time. However, this change is on average just a fraction of a degree every several years. We don't see this insignificant increase, but that little bit is enough to disrupt the global equilibrium and throw the climates out of whack. We therefore see both extremes - very cold and very hot, very dry and very wet.

I personally prefer the cold weather but that's just because I grew up and still live where it snows 8 months out of the year.

Try writing to your congressman, but don't be surprised if nothing happens.

Cows release more methane gas into the atmosphere than anything else. Why don't we stop eating beef, so there would be fewer cows and no more global warming? oops I just released a little methane gas myself, sorry.

Thermal Nuclear underwear. I like that. does it glow in the dark?

What about this. A shift. It will be warmer where it should be cold, and cooler where it should be warm. That would be global.

eddygordon is correct. I think the earth is supposed to become colder by global warming.

However, I love your question since it was funny to read.

Haha, I think you're probably the only one... and yeah, it causes freezing too.
