Under $100, they are all pretty much so-so, and it really does not make that much difference. would not buy a camera in that price range because you are just about throwing your money away. I'd rather see you save up a bit more and get a nicer camera. If you spend closer to $200, you will get a much superior camera. Still, you might find a bargain in a Nikon or Canon refurbished camera. Check Adorama or B&H for their refurbished cameras and see what you can find. Refurbished cameras - at least from these retailers - are new cameras that have been returned to the factory, and have been inspected and repaired by factory techs. You can get anywhere from 15% to 40% off a new camera by buying refurbished. While buying a $6,000 camera refurbished may or may not be acceptable for some people, you can hardly go wrong buying refurbished at the $100 level. But stay away from Vivitar, Kodak, GE, Casio, HP, and non-traditional camera brands whatever their cost.

Hi, Trish. I've just bought my first digi cam and I am really pleased with it. It's a Fujifilm A600 which I bought from Argos for £89.99. It has 6.3 mega pixels and 3x optical zoom. It comes with the software for downloading on a pc. It can also record short videos but this is a bit amateurish. However, the photos are really good. You will also need a memory card and this was £29.99 extra. Good luck.

Its Christmas and there a lots around for less than £100. Look at Jessops, Curry's and morgan computers. There is even a model HP photosmart camera with printer included well inside your price range.
If you are serious about your hobby look for the models that are about to be replaced so are going cheaper. SONY, Cannon and Olympus-lots about in the January sales
