I am a male and consider myself very clean, considerate and most of the time not even home because i am working and going to school. So, don't understand. If i had to say that any female roommates i have had are the worst. Drama, messy, always using the restroom etc. Guys generally are not that, maybe messy.

I think in part it's because females are thought to be cleaner but the person might also be hoping for someone who will cook and clean for them, possibly do laundry or worst...that the advertiser might get somebody looking like a model and then they might get lucky with her.

Any number of reasons. Comfort is the top in my mind. A woman would feel more comfortable living with another woman than a guy. I mean she could walk around in her underwear and feel that is OK, if her roommate was a guy then she would be uncomfortable with that. For the most part women are more responsible than men. Just a fact, I am a guy too. Also could be a horny dude hoping to get a horny female roommate with benefits.

Let me say that I completely agree with your statement about women being more messy than men. I used to believe otherwise until I joined the military. I just graduated AIT and the Drill Sergeants were always jumping down the females' throats about their barracks being messy. I have had to clean female latrines (bathrooms), and they were absolutely filthy!! Maybe I'm generalizing too much, but I agree with you.
As for the room mate deal, well that likely comes down to the birds and the bees.

Some people think a girl will be less threatening, submissive and have a preference for cleanliness. But after living with three other girls in one apartment, I found that to be completely false. I think I would have rather liked to lived with guys. I agree with you. Who wants all that drama?

Because most women are concerned with what people will say about her having a male roommate. I have hab both male & female roommates & they were both horrid!

i second TRU WARRIORS answer. Also, there are more women in the world than men and they tend to want female roomates because they feel safer with them. Stereotypes are pretty powerful too, that is referring to the whole neatness thing.

you are not normal. most men are messy and don't like to clean. i think it's commonly believed that women are neater than men.
