No, not at all.
They died and went to what the Bible calls a waiting place.
Even though there is still much controversy over what the name of this place is called in the Bible (the Catholic Church most notably calls it limbo) the Bible does state in various Books that the souls of all those who believed in God would have to stay in a waiting place until (this is where Jesus comes in) they would be saved by the sacrificial death of the Son of God.
According to Christian doctrine on this subject, Jesus opened up heaven for the souls of the dead when He died, and allowed their bodies to be resurrected from the dead when He rose from the dead.
See, this is why the death and resurrection of Christ is so much more than symbolic to the Christian faith.
What you call weird and creepy, I call the greatest mystery of faith.
If you want to learn more about the mysteries of the Christian faith, feel free to email me and I will do my best to inform your curiosity, even though I am no expert.

human beings get puzzled because they war to interpret issues relative to our area-time, so therefor they imagine that there is a few conserving position, yet it is an blunders because the non secular international isn't restricted to actual constraints. Hebrews 9:27 And only by way of the undeniable fact that is appointed for guy to die once, and after that comes judgment, all of us die and bypass on to a similar judgment each and anybody from the start of time to the properly of time journey and we bypass to Heaven or Hell. the different ideas are made as a lot as clarify diverse words used for hell and heaven interior the bible. Hell isn't the grave both, it truly is opposite to the Bible as an entire and in accordance to at least one verse it truly is taken out of context with techniques from the kooks that believe it.

First of all, before Jesus, people did NOT just die and go straight to hell. Hebrews 11:1,2 says, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval." Faith is the crux of it, along with love.
Now, about the love part.... Jesus said there are two great Commandments, Love God and love each other. Love God and, because of His love for us, find ways to show love to others. This is the fulfilling of the Law by the Gospel. This is faith and works. This is what Christianity is all about.

I am a believer of God but I don't understand 'the Jesus thing' either. Christians say he died for us but really he did not have any choice in the matter.
I will be watching this question as I would like to understand more about this.

It would take 100 pages of answers to answer your questions. My advice to you is to get a copy of the King James Bible and begin reading in the book of John. This is the fourth book of the New Testament. Let God give you the answers you are looking for.

People have always been saved by grace through faith in God. Now we simply know HOW its possible since Jesus came. There had to be a sacrifice good enough to take the hit once and for all for all sins and Jesus made it all possible! Praise be to God!

Actually, your ignorance of the Bible is what's CREEPY...Before Jesus died people went to Hell IF they did not trust God's prophets or his laws, those who did trust Him went to another place called "Paradise" in a compartment beside Hell..when Jesus died on the cross the Temple curtain in front of the Holiest of Holies was ripped in two and those in Paradise after three days were released to go and be with God in heaven..that's why the Bible says that the spirits of many great biblical Prophets were seen around Jerusalem after the Resurrection of Jesus! John 3:16-21 (GW) 16 "God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but to save the world. 18 Those who believe in him won't be condemned. But those who don't believe are already condemned because they don't believe in God's only Son. 19 This is why people are condemned: The light came into the world. Yet, people loved the dark rather than the light because their actions were evil. 20 People who do what is wrong hate the light and don't come to the light. They don't want their actions to be exposed. 21 But people who do what is true come to the light so that the things they do for God may be clearly seen. "
Sin separates from God therefore it separates us from his dwelling place Heaven,JESUS TOOK AWAY FROM US WHAT SEPARATED US FROM GOD :Personal and Adamic sin nature,...that's why we can by trusting in His sacrifice go to Heaven to be with God when we die! John 3:3 (GW) Jesus replied to Nicodemus, “I can guarantee this truth: No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”
John 3:13 (GW)" No one has gone to heaven(until he rose from the dead) except the Son of Man, who came from heaven. "
Matthew 27:50-54 (GW) 50 "Then Jesus loudly cried out once again and gave up his life. 51 Suddenly, the curtain in the temple was split in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, and the rocks were split open. 52 The tombs were opened, and the bodies of many holy people who had died came back to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after he had come back to life, and they went into the holy city where they appeared to many people. 54 An army officer and those watching Jesus with him saw the earthquake and the other things happening. They were terrified and said, “Certainly, this was the Son of God!”
Romans 2:5-13 (GW) 5 "Since you are stubborn and don't want to change the way you think and act, you are adding to the anger that God will have against you on that day when God vents his anger. At that time God will reveal that his decisions are fair. 6 He will pay all people back for what they have done. 7 He will give everlasting life to those who search for glory, honor, and immortality by persisting in doing what is good. But he will bring 8 anger and fury on those who, in selfish pride, refuse to believe the truth and who follow what is wrong. 9 There will be suffering and distress for every person who does evil, for Jews first and Greeks as well. 10 But there will be glory, honor, and peace for every person who does what is good, for Jews first and Greeks as well. 11 God does not play favorites. 12 Here's the reason: Whoever sins without having laws from God will still be condemned to destruction. And whoever has laws from God and sins will still be judged by them. 13 People who merely listen to laws from God don't have God's approval. Rather, people who do what those laws demand will have God's approval. "
